Front tyres

Featured Replies

Inspected front tyres today and they are very nearly down to wear indicators on the outside yet nearly new on middle and inside both sides,I always check Tyre pressures and run them at the pressure as stated in hand book, tyres are Avon zzrs anyone any ideas.

Somebody likes roundabouts and fast cornering?

Might need the 4 wheel alignment checking to see if all is in order.

My 11 plate vrs was miles out, but within Skoda's tolerances, all adjusted and it transformed the handling and has improved tyre wear

Maybe too much toe-in.

Common issue my friend. The VRS/A5 chassis suspension is not very forgiving and tyres have been known to warp/prematurely wear on the inside. Cheaper examples can make whirring noises like a wheel bearing has gone. Skoda revised the toe in/camber settings which should now be standard when getting the tracking done. Suggest forking out for the Bluetooth alignment it will only need it once every few years.

Never mind.

That's the story for the rear, but the OP has front tyres wearing the inner edges. The only thing that'll do that is too much toe-in. Cornering hard wears the outer edges.

OP Said it was the outer edges that are worn.

This was an issue I had years ago as driving around town constantly cornering and loved roundabouts

Oops. My first post was right, ignore the second.

Lowering the pressure will chew the corners even more. Higher pressure may help, but check the toe first.
