Big bang whilst accelerating hard over a pot hole

Featured Replies

tried to save being caught by the rear of a turning lorry so booted it from going quite slowly, wheels went into quite a substantial pot hole and it sounded like the whole front end was going to fall off

anyone else known this

car has 102k on it new powerflex front arb bushes ?

Will just be the fact that the suspension didnt have time to adapt and made the bang!

Happens to me now that im lowered!

im standard .....maybe knackered ?

The bang was just the car bouncing into the pot hole and back out? :)

Ok i meant it happens to me more now that im lowered!

Even quite minor potholes feel 6ft deep when you have a strut brace fitted.

Is there one on yours? My car feels loads more pliable now its off.

I dont have a strut brace, it honestly fealt like i nearly drove over my own front axle

Used to get this every now and again on rough roads under acceleration in my CZT. Try having 40 profile tyres and that noise gets a whole lot louder! Accelerating hard over pot holes = lots of noise. Great for scaring unsuspecting passengers lol just don't make a habit of it. I think a lot of the noise is tyre slap, makes a mighty bang. Check your alloys for any damage.

It sounds like a thing called wheel hop, look it up on this forum buddy, there was a topic not long ago :)

You might be lucky i hit pothole doing speed limit other week at night and blew the tyre.

Its a pain travelling to work on m1 with a space saver lol.

But im claiming off council for damage so hopefully my tyre will be free.

Mines remapped and when I boot it or stall it . It nearly puts me threw the window screen or bangs if I boot it and goes over a bump on the road , the suspension makes sense for the noise over a bump but should it also be so ruthless if you stall ???

When you stall it might be engine mount or gearbox mount as mine is knackered, but I haven't stalled yet ;)
