Good day at the Pod for the Mongrel

Featured Replies

I wish I had that power and terminals! Its all IMHO in your 60ft and 330ft times mate.

I always run 2.1 to 60ft and 5.7 to 330ft. If I could do my 60/330ft times and then keep up with you after (if that makes sense) it would be a 12 second car.

Did you achieve that with an abusive launch technique? :D Or tyre choice?

I only ever start in 1st gear as I am hopeless at launching my current clutch in 2nd gear....

Jason, don't suppose you want a full set of Lexan glass and a carbon fibre/fibreglass bootlid? :D

I still have them knocking around the depot.

I think weight is the key, T Spark's SEAT is light. And he goes like a nutter. :D

Quicker than my car (2.2) on 888s with wheelspin to warm them.

Maybe I need to spend a little time one evening this week removing more from my car. ;)

If you are serious I'll PM you, rather than spam up Jason's thread.

Is the bootlid for a "normal" car. I looked into it when I did the bonnet, and I couldn't fit one as was designed to fit the wide arched rear end. Interested, potentially though. ;)

It's the bootlid off a Cup car from the homeland.

They use a regular shell with added on wheelarches, it's not the rally bodyshell.

I'll find it and take a pic...

Well, I'm booked in @ Kettering, and room if you want.

Weather is looking decent, so going to go either way (can't cancel :D), and hopefully the forecast will remain decent. :)

I've booked in at Northampton now, got a couple of passengers coming with me.

You definitely coming if the weather is good Richard?

Sorry for spamming ;)

Jason was originally going to do 28th, then changed his mind.

So I need to see if I can move a few things round for the 21st.

I'm sure this is a stock boot.

REMOVED as probably sold.

I still think my car was weighted in 1150KG's wet. So yes ligher than standard and the Fabia! But not epically lighter.

I ran one 13.7 with a 1st gear launch and actually did a 2.03 to 60ft! But most are 2nd gear launching running Toyo T1-R's.

We really need to have a get together and we both have the winning formula for 12's just need to mix them!

10% maybe with back seats out and carbon bonnet. Or more if Jason is running NOS.

Makes me wonder what his car weighs. :)

Sorry what do you mean 10%?

So potentially the Mongrel is capable of more..... Get the angle grinder out Batman! :giggle:

Sorry what do you mean 10%?

I'd expect the mongrel to be around 10% heavier, I thought your car was rather stripped.

Partly because the Fabia is heavier than the SEAT anyway.

Ohh ok. Well I would say if his fabia is closer to 1300KG's still then yeah its about right.

Thing is, the trap speed is done by weight vs bhp. So to hit 111mph means he has alot more bhp/per ton than I do crossing the line at 99mph.

I just can't put it down. Wider front tyres, and a decent road tyre, I think is the key to the launches. More rubber on the ground, rather than the type of rubber.

I run 215/40 on 16s?
