Factory clutch lifespan ? How long is yours lasting

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering how long a factory clutch should last in an octy vrs? Mine seems to have 9 life's lol .. I bought car with 68k miles on the clock , with no mention of a clutch replacement .. I had her remapped at 70k miles and Theres now 89k miles on her and the clutch still bites like new :)

113,000km so far. Stage 1 remap at 15,000km, stage 2 remap at 90,000, running ~245bhp :)

I don't thrash it though.

96.000km starts slipping quite badly.

Are we talking 96 000 miles ? Or 96 000 kilometres ? :)

The km might give it away!

Just over 80,000 miles and just under half that on the remap, Original clutch.

100,000miles and still strong, mined I'm not hard on stuff, my brake pads lasted 70,000miles and my disc only just need changing lol :)

Mine was still on original clutch at 140k miles when I sold it. Standard though and never driven particularly hard.

I think the new owner did the G60/VR6 conversion but it must have done at least 150k by then

I've been running stage 2 map for the past 2 years and just clicked on 97000 miles on original clutch and all is good

Are we talking 96 000 miles ? Or 96 000 kilometres ? :)

I allways thought "km" stands for kilometers

I have this waiting on my garage shelf:

I chnaged mine a few months back, original clutch and dual mass flywheel was on car, dual mass was knocking quite bad, but clutch was still good.

That was at 177,000 miles

mine is not a vrs though

Not a VRS - 601k Miles on a 99 TDi

Had to change the clutch on a 2000 Golf 1.8T a few years ago at 136000, & it was the original Clutch/DMF. I was impressed it had lasted that long, it was Revo stage 1 on a rolling road finally killed it

Mine died at 82k but i know the car did alot of town driving befor i got it and had a one lady owner

170,000km remaped from 70,000km(~230hp) no problems until now

I'm getting a lil nervous with mine, it may of done 140k. It had a full service history before I brought it with 109k but nothing saying it's been changed

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

Mine gave up after about 90k, not original due to change under warranty at 40k. Hard driving day in day out, working car, stop starts, trafffic, the lot lol Not bad going imo.

Mine lasted 65k was mapped at 40k. Car does many short journeys.

Original clutch after 601k?

Original clutch after 601k?

Yes!

Here is the list of everthing that its needed since the owner bought it from new (he keeps a spreadsheet) http://www.briskoda....t/#entry2964780

It is looked after well, serviced on time (FSH) and has an easy motorway life. On all its MOTs, it has only had one advisory (misting from front shock).

Mines just turned 100k and still going strong - thankfully (VRS)

Had to change mine at 90k after a few years of it being revo'd, i fitted a turbo back exhaust and the clutch just didn't like it. But the smf conversion is highly recommended :)

2005 Fabia VRS @ 155K but noticed the clutch only bites right at the end of pedal travel.......I would like it to last the winter with myself having a clutch change party in Spring but doubt it will last that long ........
