Thinking about installing this unit.

Does anyone have any tales to tell, bad or good?!

Or should I go with RNS510?

The standard unit I have now works fine, but just looks sooo dated!

Oops!

Thanks for link Rob. Found it by accident on Google. Still not 100% decided.

There's also a 521dab version that's supposed to be a straight fit.

I've just fitted one in my camper van - very good so far, garmin sat nav so same interface as I have in my wee portable sat nav. sound and picture all very good and the bluetooth works fine. looks very smart too

My biggest gripe was it's incompatability with the MFSW and (I think) Maxidot, so I didn't go for it in the end.

I have one In the car I bought.

Sat nav very good though prefer my TomTom.

Bluetooth great but phone book won't work on the move, I know you can sort this, ditto with DVD.

iPod interface good but front only connection extremely annoying.

Sound seems ok, but with standard speakers won't set the world alight - but then I'm a hifi ****!

Would I pay loads of money for one - probably not.

It really is starting to sound like sticking with the Columbus is the way forward.

i have the dnx5220 which is nearly the same as this, it is a very old unit (i had mine over 3 years), map updates are very expensive £100+ while the columbus ones are downloadable

It is a really nice unit but they aren't cheap and it doesn't interface with Maxidot.

just put 1 in my Superb but from a VW main dealer

i changed the start up screen from VW to Skoda

the bluetooth is good and im used to garmin sat navs so that is good

it plays my mp3's good as well

i have lost the reverse sensor picture(it still beeps but thats all i need) and the aircon info that popped up on the Bolero unit but that does not stop them working

mine works with the MFSW the only issue i have is that when im playing mp3s from the memory stick and i scroll the maxidot up to see mpg etc it also changes the track up

the issue with the columbus for me is the lack of bluetooth built in

i can source you a legit Kenwood from a VW main dealer for £470 brand new with 12 months warranty if you decide to go that way

just pm me

I've been led to believe that this one does integrate properly but check it out at the dealers as quite a few have it on a special stand that allows you to 'test' it.

yes apparently it does but its twice the price so i decided to get the other and spend the saving on winter wheels and tyres
