jetex catback exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Being new to this, i was just wondering if any one has had a jetex exhaust fitted to the vRS?

I would have the full system with the downpipe but not really got funds for that and stage 2 map.

is there a better exhaust note than from stock?

Sean :)

If your going stage 2 you only need the down pipe not the catback dude. If you get the decat downpipe you'll get a better note than standard.

If you don't want to spend a lot on full system plus remap but it's mainly the improved sound you are after then I'd go for just the catback. Catback will give you the better looking larger tailpipes plus the nice noise! Not heard of anyone on here with the jetex. Let us know what its like if you get one! Milltek also worth a look although I think it's a little more expensive than the jetex :-)

Me and confide got The jetex System with downpipe , Sounds lovely but Not Super Loud. Can Check my Youtube Channel for some Sound Files .

If you have enough money for a full TBE exhaust, then why not change your choice to a Jetex downpipe and a stage 2 remap

I run stage 3 with only a Miltek downpipe and standard CAT Back and those that have heard mine will tell you its quite a lot louder than a stock car but not to intrusive at all. I personally wouldnt want it any louder. Im a big fan for all the performance gains but with none of the noise.

This is with 2 mufflers, 100 cell racekat, 3" downpipe, Forge CAI-kit and stage 2 software.

The whole system was developed on my car, so feel free to ask any questions regarding soundlevels and so (my car on the cover-pictures aswell on Jetex site, 10 days old there).

You want the look!!! They don't look much bigger or different from stock.

IMO pretty much all CAT backs are in your face loud.

Which software are you using?

as long as it doesnt rattle the whole car then it will be fine but judging by the videos from Confide, it will be a good purchase.

I am goin with APR software, loaded at local tuners; Awesome GTI having it done next thursday.

I do want to get th ITG intake kit for the car aswell as the forge one i have now isnt that good and doesnt make that much of difference, put original intake back on and the car seems faster! -_-

You are ofcourse entitled to your own opinion here, but not ALL catbacks are "in your face loud".

If the guy wants the catback, let him have it instead off trying to put him down.

You've already tried that and it didn't work ;).

EDIT :

And while they aren't "much" bigger then before, remember that those last mm sure makes the difference!

It looks bang-on now, fills out really nicely and instead off ovals they are now circular (looks better with the cars lines).

Know that I'm onto small details... but hey, even I are entitled to my opinion ;).

I'm very satisfied with the tbe!

Also had the Forge-intake and I share your opinion on that (along with almost everybody here).

I've tried different setups and tbh, the most efficient one is the stock-solution.

I'm using it and will be using it for some time!

Well I will be adding the down pipe after Xmas and stage 2 map but at the moment the car will be going in to the dealers as its used 2l of oil in the last 2 thousand miles and its done 18k so probably will need oil breather fix I hope but see what they come up with :)

Where in manchester are you based, I am located in Altrincham & have APR stage 2 set up including milltek turbo back exhaust system if you'd like to hear it in the flesh?

The would be boss ! I'm in Leigh which is about 25 min from altrincham will pm you mate

In the flesh twin 80mm pipes on the Fabia look soooo much better than the stock pea-shooters! Lol

Are THe Milltek exhaust Tips equal in Lengh ?

As you say, it is purely my opinion, I guess i was trying to push over my point a bit too much, but i'm not trying to put the guy off. I thought i had a valid point.

He wanted a better exhaust note, but not in your face loud, as well as a stage 1 map, and would later upgrade to a stage 2 map with downpipe. This is a more expensive way of doing it as whilst the upgrade to stage 2 with APR is free, you still have to pay for the dealers time to upload the stage 2 map and set it up, plus any dyno time etc etc.

The OP said he didn't want an in your face loud exhaust, which IMO, makes the stage 2+ downpipe the better solution. Plenty of extra exhaust noise/burble, but not overly intrusive, more power gains than with a stage 1/Catback setup, and then if he feels like he wants more noise then simply throw on the catback with no need to go back to the APR dealer and pay for their time to upload new software for a stage 2 setup.

Its definitely the most cost effective solution. Especially if he puts on the catback and thinks its louder than he expected and regrets it. Lets be fair, ive seen many videos of exhausts, and none quantify the extra noise.

If you are planning on stage 2 with a full TBE but cant afford it in the long run, the way I said is the cheaper solution.

of course, its obvious im not a fan of catback exhausts, as you have probably noticed. The reason is not so much the extra noise they make(they do sound good, ill admit that), its just when i stick my foot down, i dont like letting every policeman in a 10 block radius know that im doing it, and thats what my last two experiences have been like with them. Plus were driving a Skoda which resembles a golf Cart lol. The last thing we should be doing is drawing attention to it lol.

If you can view any of the two videos I have uploaded above there is an idea of millteks decat full system stage 2 apr map on the rollers at awesome gti last weekend.

I've got the Jetex on mine, only a CAT back atm, but does give a slightly deeper tone from standard, and you can tell the pipes are different from the standard ones.

I'm looking at getting the front pipe next year and sort out a remap to match too.

mine with the jetex system, around 5 hours after i got it

the jextex half system does sound better than stock but not ovally loud and looks the part, had it fitted to today after having the car in at the dealers for 2 weeks while they did the oil consumtion tests and found that my car wasnt using oil, even thought i had to put 2L of oil in it after 2k miles :/ puzzling !

Getting the remap done on thursday so that should be good.

i will try to upload a video of how my exhaust looks and sounds :)

fitted the middle silencer replacement pipe a few days ago , sounds nuts .

nice DSG farting here and there.

might doing a video tomorow.

It's sat on the m-way at 60-80mph that I'm most concerned about noise wise.

Having a constant drone thats too loud for 4-5 hours wouldn't be worth it!

With one muffler, it might get too noisy 130 km/h. No problem with two mufflers tho :-P.

Also, not too noisy with one muffler and 100 km/h.

This is ofc my opinion, maybe can record the noise :-).

I have a turbo back decat milltek system (no silencer until the back box)..when you reach those speeds the droning doesn't occur but once your foot presses the accelerator the drone occurs so if you have a steady foot or even cruise control, droning wouldn't be a problem what so ever, the road noise in the fabia usually cancels out the droning too :)
