140pd Scout difficulty engaging reverse

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2010 Octavia Scout with the 140pd engine. With 15k miles. Recently reverse gear is getting increasingly difficult to engage, especially when cold. I will be getting the dealer to take a look at it next week. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Thanks, Mark

Most likely just needs the linkages adjusting.

As above. My 2008 PD140 Scout is as smooth as silk into reverse.

You must have one of the last PD140's in a Scout, didn't they swap to the CR140 late in 2009?

Hi thx for your replies, yes it's one of the last PDs I was initially a bit disappointed that the dealer hadn't mentioned it would be the pd engine. On balance I do like the power delivery of the pd compared with the cr.

Still having problems with reverse. Had it in to Royce Roberts before Xmas and they couldn't find a fault. It's going back in next week, they are going to speak to Skoda to see if there are any known issues.

Hope it gets sorted soon!

I'm going to get my gearbox oil changed at the next service. I've noticed (especially when cold) how low speed gear changes are becoming a little more difficult.

How is your clutch? If that isn't disengaging then some gears (particularly reverse) will be hard to select.

The clutch is nice and smooth, the problem only seems to happen in cold weather. It may be my imagination but the clutch seems to be noisy at cold idle for the first few seconds after start up, ones the pedal is depressed the noise disappears. Not sure if it could be the release bearing or DMF.

Hi all

Bit of subject but when should you renew the gear box oil in general?

Thanks

Royce Roberts have finally agreed that there is a problem with reverse and have replaced the whole gear linkage assembly. (On the last day of the warranty) First impressions are that reverse seems a bit easier. Time will tell especially next winter.
