WARM DIESELS!

Featured Replies

Every one knows skoda has a substantial range of good deisel cars and warm ones too!! But is there any other makers that make a fast sporty diesel which has made u think possibly just possibly could change badges!!!! Please share them be interested to see what people say!!

Mine are 2

1. Seat Leon cupra tdi cr (good looking but worst interior ever)

2. (hear me out on this!) Renaultsport megane dci. I work for Renault not as bad as people make out the engine is strong and reliable 6 gears looks like a magne r26 with all the goodies brembos cup chassis etc and a very rare car! Produced between 2006-2008 :) what's yours??

Skoda doesn't sell any HOT diesels.

It only sells warm ones.

I don't think any of the stock ones can do 0-62mph in under 8 seconds offically and all the VRS models are front wheel drive which compromises putting the power down in normal driving conditions.

Good cars, but not HOT.

edit: I see you have changed the title.

True! You've gotta go big to go hot but something sporty haha

Most manufacturers have weam diesles now. BMW, Audi, VW, even vauxhall have a 197bhp diesel.

When does warm become hot????

BMW 320d with 180bhp = warm

BMW 330d with 240 odd BHP = HOT.

Thats how id see it. Up to 200 bhp is warmish above 200 is getting into hot territory.

I have just switched to Skoda so no plans to jump ship soon but BMW do seem to offer a lot of choice in their diesel range. I have had a 320 and a 330d myself before. They have areally good spread of avaialable power bands to meet all needs, probably more so than anyone else. 316d, 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d, 335d. Thats only the 3 series range the rest of the ranges offer even higher outputs. Pretty much spoilt for choice there. Problem is even the 316d is way too expensive.

Not being biased because i have one but i couldnt find a better balance of diesel BHP / £ than my new VRS. Especially when interior space etc was a factor. There was no-one else who could offer me this much pace, mpg and space with a good auto box (dsg) for better value. Correct me if im wrong.

Some of the Saabs are nice with the TTiD engine. 180bhp and 295lb ft of torque.

Phil

Hmmmmm maybe a used BMW 335d would be nice. i would definately consider one of those as they go like stink: so much torque. Apprarently BMW have a triple turbo version of this engine due out with nearly 400bhp and enough torque to pull the earth off its axis.

I thought that BMW triple turbo diesel (550D?) was not going to be made in a saloon car inRHD?

It does look good. Shame I could never buy a BMW.

No RHD 550 I heard due to the turbo plumbing. You will have to buy it in that hideous X5 or X6 thing.Having said that I could live with LHD. It is supposed to be a cracking engine but I was reading in Engine Technology International that the turbos dull the sound so they play the sound of a petrol V8 through the hi fi system :)

"Could" never or "would" never?

I just have issues with the BMW brand image.

But hey, I drive a Skoda. What what do I know.

I just have issues with the BMW brand image.

What brand image do you think they have? Dont say ******s cars as thats just jumping on the bandwagon. To me people drive BMW's because they can afford them as generally they make some of the best cars you can buy. I dont care what others who cant afford them think.

If you have £30k to spend you cant do much better than invest in a BMW. All makes of cars have ****** drivers but that shouldnt reflect badly on the car, merely the driver. AUDI, BMW, porsche etc all get branded ******* cars so by not choosing one because of what other people think is just denying yourself the opurtunity to own some of the best cars available. Pretty stupid in my opinion. Buy the car that best suits your needs and stuff what others think. Why should you compromise your lifestyle due to public misconceptions and stereotypes?

Maybe a lot of BMW drivers are ******* but they still own a very good car so maybe ****ing gives you better judgement.

Wow, did you actually trip the swear filter five times in one post? :)

I work in the East End of London.

It's wall to wall BMWs here with generally arrogant drivers because they have bought a nice car which is very common.

Note, nice car.

I also prefer all wheel drive, which both my cars are.

I do choose my cars on what best suits my needs.

That's why I have what I do. One practical and one mad. I didn't buy a Yeti to show off. :D

My bad on the swearing. Didnt think 7o55ers was a swear word. The same arrogant BMW drivers will still probably be arrogant in another make of car its just fashionable nowadys to label all BMW drivers as such.

The new 3 series is now available with x drive in the UK. Worth thinking about. This will probably gain them a lot of sales i imagine meaning even more ******* on the road.

Dont get me started on your preference - all wheel drive - hopefully not a 4x4 / suv / chelsea tractor type i hope who is needlessley destroying the environment. tsk tsk. :)

I have a 170CR 4x4 Yeti with a little Jabba magic for practical use.

And a 600bhp GT-R for fun.

No Chelsea tractors here. :D

Maybe it's just me, but BMW drivers seem better now than a decade ago. Finding lots of ******s in Audi's these days, generally about 3" off your rear bumper!

But you are certainly destroying the environment with the gtr. Im not jealous though. Actually can you drive it some more its bloody freezing up here.

I have just bought a leon fr tdi

Can i qualify?

150bhp!

Not setting the world alight but my mpg from my 1.8t octy vrs has doubled! Am i happy? Im over the moon with it! Looks nicer too :)

What about the BMW 123D, i know it's not the biggest car in the world. But that thing can fly, one left my cr vrs diesel for dust on the A9 when i was overtaking a car, i pulled out so did the car behind then the bmw. i thought i was flying as i left the second car standing, then the next thing i know this little rocket goes flying past. and you can get it in 3 or 5 door. think the 0-60 times about 6.9 ish.

Love those wee things. Verging on HOT rather than WARM. The 1 series does have a tiny boot unfortunately. I seriously tried to convince myself i could live with one as i fancied a 123d but in reality my dog would not fit in the boot. Well he would but it would have been effectively animal cruelty.

Don't think the 550d is coming because it needs 4wd with the power and torque, and seemingly the British public don't want a 4wd BMW as they view them as rwd. Sad really

I greatly doubt that any UK focus group or market research would show that the majority of BMW buyers give Flying Duck which wheels do the driving.

'Ultimate Driving Machine' slogans are pretty much gone now.

Be it Pushers or pullers, or AW Drivers, it is getting kind of Electrically controlled out of the bigger of the lardy lumps these days.

Many of them still appear to have on the wrong tyres on in the UK, for 1/3 of the year.

It's more to do with converting the layout to RHD, all wheel drive and the engine compartment.

Apparently it's not easy.

Shame I could never buy a BMW.

I have a moral barrier preventing me from buying a bimmer.

I love BMWs but could I have one on the drive...? No.

Same on the BMW front! Just something that niggles me... My mums fella has a m5v10 and he called the outside lane of the motorway the BMW lane..... Just no. That's exactly one of the reasons that niggles me.

that's not a moral barrier, that's just kinda...dumb and no different at all from someone not buying a Skoda because of the badge
