K&N Replacement Filter

Featured Replies

Hey all

Just wondering if anybody has tried one on the Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI?

Are they any good I have only ever fitted full induction kits to cars before, but due to it being a new car and a lease car that's not going to be an option me thinks.

Do you get any extra induction noise at all with these? I love the induction noise from full kits but assume these don't give the same effect?

Cheers

John

Not strictly comparable, but I put one on my last car, a 2 litre NA Focus, and it made a surprisingly louder and more impressive growl versus the stock filter. Whether it added performance is arguable, but it did sound good.

Yeah not bothered about performance gain with it, even the full induction kits I have never found any noticeable difference in performance anyway.

Its just the nice induction noise I am after really, was not sure if just a panel filter would work for that and assume full induction kit will void warranty?

I have checked with my insurance and any performance filters make no difference in price for insurance so just warranty which is my concern really, K&N claim that the panel filters don't effect manufacturer warranty. Not sure about full induction kits.

It would only void warranty if they could prove it had affected something else. If you're worried, it's a two minute job to swap it out before you go to the dealer, or whatever. I haven't looked yet, but I suspect it's more of a cone than a panel inside the airbox. Someone else will probably confirm.

Its a cylinder in the box. I personally stay away from k & n as you have to oil their filters. I would suggest going with the Revo or pipercross filters.
