2.0 FSi New EGR Valve faulty?....

Featured Replies

VCDS is showing an EGR Malfunction causing the engine management light to come on.

The selling dealer only fitted the 'Siemens VDO' EGR valve on 22 August while the car was on the forecourt for sale, I bought it on 22 September and haven't even done a thousand miles yet.

What is the likelyhood that this new EGR valve is a duff one? Am I barking up the wrong tree?!

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter

Was it calibrated when they fitted it (needs to be hooked up to the computer to do so)?

I'd clear it and see if it comes back if you've got VCDS.

Re occurs straight away, I did the VCDS. So it has to be put into basic settings and run an adaption then?

Well I've just texted the dealer and he says it hasn't been through the 'adaptation' process on VCDS. Will any damage have been caused to the EGR because of this, and will getting it programmed now possibly sort the issue of it showing as a malfunction?

Just to update the thread - Dave (myheartbeatsfortwo) has kindly done the honours on VCDS this morning and the EGR valve is no longer showing as a fault :)

Thanks again Dave
