One is in the heater panel, and three in the overhead panel under the flip down lid :wonder:

dashboard lighting I believe - turning on off lights on speedo.

Alarm movement sensors I believe

No

When it gets dark the speedo lights go out to remind you to put the lights on, as you can't see the speedo.

I don't think it is made redundant by the rotary control-the dash board lighting is switched by ambient light, the rotary controller adjusts the brightness within the range.

If you go into a tunnel with no lights on the dash changes to just pointers. when lights are on you can vary the overall dash brightness.

overhead sensors, think middle is ultrasonic two outer are photocells! correct me if wrong someone!

Thought it was 2 ultrasonic sensors, and the mike for the phone was the other?

The one on the heater / AC control panel is CLIMATRONIC temperature sensor - page 93 in the owners manual.
