Oooo, that's interesting - you've got the latest (long awaited) engine with the CTHE code. Supposedly a whole raft of internal changes to combat oil consumption. Post a piccy with the engine cover off if you can. Will be really interested to see how it performs.

It is brilliant. I am running it in now so high gears wide open throttle and revs up to 3.5-4k max including in gear slowing down on downshifts. All in manual. I take regular photo of the tail pipes to keep note any potential oil soiling. Will post some good photos tomorrow after lunch weather permitting of course :).

Do you know what those changes were?

Gone way off topic. Maybe ought to start a new thread on the CTHE engine ??

Hallelujah! Finally has a motor Lol

Amen!

I will later on today, with nice photos of the car and under the bonnet with covers off :)

and dont worry about the tail pipes... mine are black, I get the black spots on the rear of the car, and the black puffs of smoke... and my car doesn't use a drop of oil ;)

I only noticed the black puff of smoke a few days ago but to be honest I don't spend much time looking at what's behind me. Handling wise I'd say it's more than fine. I've driven all the competition apart from the Polo GTI (didn't see the point as it was out of budget) and yes the Clio 200 does handle the best but it's compromised elsewhere. Some of the reliabilty issues for a start put me off getting one. Yes the vRS does roll a bit when pushed but I've only ever noticed on track.

Driving fast on track or on the road is different where you have cambers, potholes and bad roads, etc and I've found the vRS pretty good over bumps. It lets you push on without you having to ease off as much as if you were in something harder in fear of breaking something. Brakes under normal conditions are finebut as both me and Sharkrider know, after 10 mins or so they do fade quite a bit. But then again that's not too bad. Even if you go out for a hoon, chances are you end up getting stuck behind something so 10 min blasts are probably the norm. They cool down fine too.

The problem is Sy is used to something what seems like a touring car setup so his expectations are a lot higher and he's more critical. It's a cheap Skoda and hot hatches are supposed to be cheap fun. The vRS does that in spades.

I wouldnt go that far, bu i do always spend alot of money modifyig my cars, and a stock car is always going to feel pants compared to a modified one.

On a value for money basis, then with running costs etc etc, its untouchable, and considering the tax free deal, its an absolute gem. I got 24% discount on mine, and some extra goodies thrown in for free, and with all the mods, ive spent pretty much the same as what it would have cost me without the tax deal, so im very happy with my setup.

I'm happy with mine, too.

Took it out on a long run this evening. I've just discovered "sport mode"; see ya later Mister XR5 (previous model ST for you blokes in the UK) . Previously, for kicks I've just been using the paddles and the odd burst with the manual shifter (not too many, because it's set up opposite to the Focus's tiptronic, and dropping a gear when you should be shifting up is embarrassing).

The Focus had Eibach springs and a Whiteline rear sway-bar, but I can tell the RS out-handles it. The Fabia does seem to roll a touch more through the (council, traffic-calming) chicanes, but maybe that's because I have the confidence/speed to go in more quickly?

Overall, loving the car big time.
