Seat cover replacement

Featured Replies

Has anybody replaced the covers of the seats (OEM stuff) and done the job themselves?

Looks easy ,, but is it?

I removed the cover from the base of a rear seat, passenger side, I cant believe how well they are made, it is not a case of just undoing the cover as it is all connected under the foam with loads of metal rods and little metal clips that I presume you need a special tool for as they are 1 use only.

A car seat is not your average kettle warmer indeed. Depends on the manufacturer there are, as stated above, loads of single use clips, tentioners and otherwise akward elements. If you don't put everything back as it should be the result will be a worn, useless and wrinkled seat cover in a few months. Proceed with caution, take a lot of photos while dismantling the seat and then reverse the process.

Bugger, I thought some of the parts were a "single use item".

I was looking to do the job myself as Skoda want in access of 800 of the queens squids for the job!

Thanks peeps.

The prices from Skoda are.............................

The front drivers seat complete would be a staggering £2088.17 just for the part plus £47.40 to fit.

The individual parts plus labour to supply and fit both base and backrest plus padding and lumber support would work out to be £989.08inc.

Here is a breakdown of the parts prices and the labour involved.

Base padding £85.75

Base trim £215.04

Back padding £85.75

Back trim £321.22

Lumber supp £68.32

Clips £5.00

Labour £208.00

All these include vat

Luckily, I have black leather so if it ever gets worn i'll just get an indy to refit it with new leather. Sweet!

Any decent car trimmer would be able to do what you want, as most of the clothes that are used in car seats are the same or very similar to each other, I had the side of an octavia seat repaired and it only cost £40.00 a couple of years ago. He had all the clothes on big rolls.
