Special build - first ever meet

Featured Replies

For some time Brijo and I have been discussing the possibility of a photo opportunity with our 16" shod yeti's.

Brian and his family were holidaying in the Lake district and we had independently decided to head in the same direction after collecting our car from Lookers in Stockport.

As it happened we were both staying within a few miles of each other so we arranged a meet up in a car park close to Rydal.

I had envisaged a nose to nose shot and was very surprised (having arrived first and backed into a parking sport) when Brian arrived and parked up with his front end up close to mine.

Then it turned out we both owned the same make and model camera! - Great minds obviously think alike.

Any way, we had a good chat about the merits of the 16" rims and then took some shots (it was hosing down with rain so there wasn't much posing).

Our car (Gott) is on the right, Brians car (Annie) is on the left.

Another shot of the Meet. We had both intended to 'do' the Hardknott-Wrynose Passes that day but It really was wet, even by Lake District standards, and we wouldn't have had any views to enjoy. A few quick photos in the Rydal carpark, just to record the event, was the best we could hope for.

As it happened, we did meet again, by chance, the following day. After traversing the Passes, in rather better weather, we arrived in the Dalegarth carpark to find Geoff's SM already there! So that's two Meets for the Special Club!!

And here we are again, 6 months later...

Brian and Jo had come down to sunny (and windy Dorset) for a week with their caravan.

Having come this far it would have been rude not to meet up for another pic.

After the picture taking we retired to our house for a bit of grub and good old chinwag.

The overriding view was that we still loved our yetis just as much as we did back then. Mine being only 3 days old at the first pic shoot!

Good to see you both again - and thanks for your hospitality!

Here's my pic of the Yetimeet. A distinct difference in ride height; perhaps Annie (left) has more junk aboard.

A Yeti should never show their junk in public.

Off to the corner I go....... :giggle:

looks like yetis having intercourse...

I trust Annie's friend is a boy then

Nothing in my boot except some 4x4 response magnetic signs, foil blankets, a reflective jacket and a torch!

There you are, then - I've got a tow hook as well :giggle: !

Ah yes so do I, but I keep mine tucked away!

OK. So - serious question, then: given that the removable loads were about the same, why the different ride heights? They were built within a couple of months of each other and the only mechanical difference is the gearbox - DSG on the left, manual on the right. Current mileages are about the same.

Maybe its an angle thing, I was facing uphill, you down. I have only got about a 1/4 of a tank of fuel in at the moment as well.

Odd, but not worth worrying about!
