Better Headlight bulbs for Pre-facelift Octy

Featured Replies

One of my cars is a pre facelift Octy and doesn't even have clear lenses.

I'm doing a much longer commute in the dark now and struggle sometimes to even see the edge of the motorway. A good clean of the lenses every now and again helps but it doesn't last long.

What can I get to improve the light output *without dazzling other drivers*?

I've only ever bought bog standard bulbs from Halfrauds before.

it's illegal but 100w offroad h4 bulbs will make a difference but with brighter bulbs comes more heat and maybe people flashing you ect...

some people may say it's irresponsible but this is just my opinion, but you can buy clear plastic lights for the pre facelift but it'll be funny money

I don't want anything too extreme. I hate being dazzled by other peoples ridiculous headlights. I just want something a bit better that I can actually see with.

Euro car Parts have OSRAM Nightbreakers - anyone know if they are any good?

I use these and they seem pretty good...

First of all you need good headlights, try to refurb them or buy new/second hand ones in good condition,as for the bulbs,I recommend Philips Extreme Vision .

I have Osram nightbreakers and they are excellent. Still legal, provide a very nice powerful light and in all honesty when turned to full beam they are to bright as they start to make road signs insanely bright. I used to have my lights poiinted fully up but i have them down a notch now as I think they were dazzling other drivers. I also turn them even lower when i'm in the city which is where a lot of my driving is done. 14k miles on my nightbreakers almost now including a small shunt where the NS headlamp got wrecked but trhe bulbs were fine :)

Both the Philips and the Osram replacements are good bulbs, with IMO the Philips getting the edge over the Osram (whose reliability has been questioned before).
