Fabia Boot Light on all the time

Featured Replies

I've just bought another Fabia vRS and the warning light for the boot lid on the dash is stuck on basically, and, having messed around with the orange catch on the boot lid and the push plunger next to the boot catch (on chassis) trying to simulate the boot closing I can't seem to get the boot light (or the dash light) to go out.

Firstly, looking on the forums it appears the orange switch operates the light (please correct me if I'm wrong) and secondly, has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did they fix it?

I've looked on the forums and there doesn't appear to be much on this subject. The only issues I can find are the opposite where the light doesn't work or where the boot is stuck shut!

I want to fix it now before we get really cold days else I might find I've got a flat battery one morning!!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Geoff

1) Take out the bulb but carry a torch in the car.

2) Look for threads covering the rear washer pipe and trim removal from the rear hatch. I think you'll have to remove the orange lock to check/fix or replace it as the boot light switch is part of the lock.

In the short term Geoff, take the bulb out. No more worrying about

your battery at least. As Vindaloo says, your problem seems to lie in the switch.

I'm sure I've read on here about someone drowning the whole lot

in WD40 to fix a similar issue.

Glad you found one dude, what colour did you get?

Was it red?

Thanks for the response guys.

I put the seat forward the other day to observe whether or not the light in the boot stays on and it appears to go out, it looks like it's just the dash indication that is at fault, so my search for the fault continues! I've only done straight forward checks so far but now that I've identified what controls the light I should be able to sort it.

Yes I've got one Garry, it's black - looks similar to your old one but with silver wheels. Has a full Milltek (incl De-Cat) and my ears were ringing by the time I got back from the Midlands with it! There's loads of road noise as well, not least because the Toyo Proxes on the front are BALD (not impressed). And it passed the MoT last month with no advisories as well!!! I do wonder about these MoT stations - are the DVLA really on the case with dodgey MoTs? Saying that, the rest of the car looks perfectly legit; I'm actually quite pleased with it.

I hear you've got a new motor as well Garry; congrats; I hope it is everything you wanted in a car, well, once you've fininshed finishing it! I may be in touch with you regarding the wheel, the chipstick and maybe some other things you stripped off the car; if they're for sale.
