Potential VRS owner

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just thought I would say hello, sorry for swearing but I currently own a Ford Mondeo 2.2tdci Titanium X at the moment however I have seen a lovely Skoda Octavia VRS diesel which I am in love with.

99.9% sure I am going to buy it but just thought I would get some advice on here about what to look out for etc?

Thanks in advance :sun:

Hello and welcome.

Is it new or second hand etc? I think the engine varies from PD to CR around 2008 but others will no doubt clarify pretty sure both are pretty solid i have had a 2002 1.8T petrol vrs & i now got a 2006 2.0TFSI petrol VRS and a brand new 2.0TDI Vrs Diesel Blackline. Can't say i really had any significant probs with any of em. Just do the usual checks as with purchasing any car and enjoy!

Can anybody advise when the cambelt should be swapped? the man at the dealership said after 120000 miles but this sounds a bit high to me

To be honest even on a VAG engine i would swap every 60k but thats just me. Even if it says 120k in the service manual which seams high unless he means its had one already get it swapped earlier to be safe.

Enjoy.......you will love it.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Just do it and you will love it.

I think 120000 is too high as well. I know it's a different engine but the 1.9pd engine in my wifes car is 4 years or 40k which ever comes first. I'd ring skoda up and ask, just in case it's due now and the dealer isn't pulling a fast one. I've got a blackline and loving it, so I'm sure you'll enjoy yours as mondeo to vrs can only be a step in the right direction. Ade
