Monte Service Interval

Featured Replies

So, my Monte is telling me I have 2500 miles to go until the service is due.

I found this when I went to change the time the other day.

I was a bit surprised, as I thought it was on fixed servicing, then figured it must be variable, then did the maths - my service will be due at under 9500 miles and much less than a year (I reckon - 5 months old now, 7000 miles).

It's the 105 CR TDI, so has anyone else had such an early service reminder?

Of course, assuming it does wait for 2500 miles, not extend...

The service interval works on Km converted to miles so around 9500 miles for time or distance fixed services is about right.

It's in the service book as variable. I can't remember what the broker told me when I collected - I guess it's listed on the Skoda dealer network though, so might just give them a ring. I'm thinking about a spare wheel anyway...

Does your service book state QG0 or QG1. QG0 is fixed intervals, QG1 is variable. However it is possible the supplying dealer switched it to fixed even if the service book states QG1. The switch is quiet a common thing to do as it usually means more money in servicing costs to the dealer. Yours sounds like its on fixed regardless of what it says on screen.

Mine, which is on fixed intervals, also indicates everytime that it needs servicing 500 miles early. Yet, I have always been leaving it till it would hit roughly 9950 or 19950 or 29950 and so on. Never had any problems about that at the dealer's. Always covered the miles inbetween services in less than 12 months however.

This is on the little spanner screen on the display (non-Maxi-dot MDI). Hit the folder button (next to trip zero) three times, it cycles through time adjust and gets to the spanner screen - shows distance to service.

Currently, I'm at 7000 (just under) miles and the spanner says 2500.

Service book has "Variable, see indicator" written in, but I need to check the service indicator sticker (as mentioned in the book) for the QG code.

Or I ring the Supplying dealer - I got it through a broker, not a Skoda dealer - and check what they think.

EDIT: If the above is true, then 9500 miles (or just under as per today's projected readout), might put it on FIXED servicing, at 10,000 miles. OR just be the type of driving I've been doing.

My previous experience comes from my Octavia and Superb - both PD engines, both Variable and both went to about 14k before their first service.

Presumably, the supplying dealer would know as much as ANY Skoda dealer though, as it is on Skoda delaer network isn't it?

My 1.6cr Monte service reminder came on after just under 9500 miles , I believe its set to 15K KM . Dealer told me it needs 10K service , then they wrote in service book next was due at 20K or 1 year. Just had 20K service and again they have written 1 yr or 30K .

Supplying dealer (that supplied the broker) says they never put Fabias on Variable (so why write it in the book?), so 9500 would be a bit early, but the recommended interval on fixed servicing is 10-12000 miles or 12 months.

He suggested I book it in when it says it's due and they will plug it in and determine if it needs the service at that point or later (by 2000 miles presumably).
