Hi all my 2001 fabia 1.4 16v Elegance has caused me no end of problems of late. Firstly its eating 2 litres of oil a month, I have a very minor oil leak but garage told me not enough to do 2 Litres, next the idle hunts but does not stall and not all the time can go two weeks then I get it, I have had the throttle body cleaned and readapted with vag com. Last night my wife was waiting to pick me up and parked in the car park with no feet on the pedals and the car out of gear and it just cut out, it restarted fine. I have just had the thermostat replaced as that was playing up too. The car cut out whilst driving a couple of months back that turned out to be a cracked engine fuse for the ECU so cant be that again as this time car was not moving to break the contact. Any advice would be great no faults are showing on diagnostics and my garage has Vag Com so im at a loss Thanks All

Air cleaner, when was it last renewed?

DB.

Has the EGR been checked?

I know they can be problematic on these engines.

Fuel Pump (I dont think these report faults)

Hi Thanks for the replys had a new EGR fitted 12 months ago, air filter done less than a year ago not due yet. Will get my garage to check the earths and replace the fuel pump.
