fitting Jom Coilovers

Featured Replies

Thought id just put this all down so it might help some people on here as they are quite a common choice for the fabia MK1

Alot of the information I have had to find from several different threads:

Fronts

Top mounts - Good idea to change these while the front shocks are off

Bearings - same as above

Mondeo drop links ( seems to be abit of confusion on here as to whether they are the MK1 or MK2 ones? )

Rear

Ibiza cupra bump stops part no 6q 051 2131 d ( these are shorter that the original ones on the rear, they stop the car riding on the bump stops if you go quite low )

Some people choose to cut and modify the existing ones.

New nuts and bolts ( only a few quid so why not! )

copper grease to stop threads siezing on the shock adjusters

Locktight for the nuts

You will need to get the wheel alignment done after fitting as it will change the camber etc.

I got my top mounts and bearing from vwspares

Top mount for sports suspension part number 22930 ( there are two listed, standard and sports... both the same apparantly the sports one is stiffer plastic

Mount Bearing part number 1006410003

I also got the suspension bolts from here

You could replace the rear top mounts but as they are quite easy to remove the rear shocks I decided not to at this time.

Maybe a good idea to replace any bushes that might need doing ie. console, anti roll bar

Also ball joints or track rod ends etc as you will be getting the car re aligned afterwards.

Tool for seperating the hub to get the strut loose ( some people use an allen key or a screwdriver socket )

Some people buy adjustable drop links which in my opinion are quite expensive when the mondeo ones will do the same job and pretty pointless unless your planning on changing the ride hight all the time.

Ideally budget about £130 for all of the above with the wheel alignment etc

If ive missed anything please feel free to advise

Can anyone clear up the mondeo drop link issue ( mk1 or Mk2 )
