how to tell if turbo going

Featured Replies

As above really

Sounds like a police siren.

Or the car stops

Do some research

Loads of white/blue smoke

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1) Goes pop and the back of your car is covered in black stuff

2) sounds like a police siren when spooling up or down

3) excessive black/blue smoke

Does anyone have a link to video/audio of this "police siren" noise?

Oh no - my polo 130 has been making this siren noise for a while now. It's only when cold and it still pulls well, no excessive smoke etc. should I be worried & start looking in to ditching the kkk unit for a garrett? Thanks!

Fairly noticeable sound then?

It'll start quiet and get louder. Normall starts when the turbo is cold initially.

This again!

My turbo also makes the police siren noise. I checked my turbo the other week and couldnt see any damage to it, no play on the impeller and very little oil in the boost pipes.

Some say its the way the manifold is shaped or a bracket on the turbo making the noise since people have replaced the turbo with a new one and it sounds the same.
