Fabia 1.416v-unexplained Blip In Power

Featured Replies

This just in from Audi technical Dept..........

(Apply's to A2 1.4 - but same engine so will pass on anyway)

If anyone with above type of vehicle is suffering from intermitant and sudden "Loss of Power" / "Cutting out" etc - esp motorway driving infrequent without warning - this may interest you.

We currently have a number of A2's with this fault - has been desribed as if someone jabbed brakes hard for a split second, rev counter drops to zero then back up - as if engine has cut and bump started itself before you can respond.

The remedy from Audi is as follows:

1.Remove inspect & clean throttle body - if found to be faulty or unsure of condition - Replace throttle body.

2.Replace camshaft posistion sensor.

3.Replace crankshaft posistion sensor.

We are currently applying this to 2 A2's - will let you know if cures fault, interested to hear if any Fabia owners are experiencing same / similar fault.

I think kicking about the boards somewhere some Fabia owners were complaining about this. Is it 8v or 16v?

16v - should also point out that for it to be this fault,no faults would be registered in vehicle memory, and would be happening fairly infrequently approx every couple of weeks, although when occurs could happen 2 days on the run -- almost impossible to guage down to one type of occurrance, although happens more often on runs of 50 plus miles - but can happen with less, may also be worse if cheaper fuels used(for throttle body)

The fault has previously been reported in this thread by quite a few owners. Let's hope they read this thread!

Yep same thing used to happen to me on my fabia 1.4 16v. Was never really fixed. Sold it last month though and now have vRS! :)
