Warranty Item: Battery?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Hopefully a simple question with a straight forward answer -

Is a dead battery a warranty item after 2 years, or is this wear and tear?

Never had a car in warranty before and before I go and spend the cash for a new battery I'm wondering if this would be something SUK will swap FOC.

Car is a 2010 2.0CR VRS. Recently had issues with lights on startup and last night the car really struggled to start. (all in http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/250989-abs-esp-tyre-pressure-light-all-on/ )

Cheers,

Mike

Try it, but I don't think they are.

No. It's classed as a consumable which from memory is 6 months or 3000 miles

Quite a few automotive batteries come with five year warranties now so for yours to fail so early is unusual.

Do you turn all of your electrical items on and then start the engine?

Has the battery been accidentally drained in the past?

Are your journey's mainly shorter runs?

You'll probably find Skoda will say no but there is no harm in asking. Be firm but not aggressive, tell them you have looked after the battery and are very disappointed it is dead after such a short period of time.
