2.5 v6 tdi buying...

Featured Replies

I went and looked at a 52 plate Superb 2.5 v6 tdi auto yesterday. There were 2 issues I found, the parking sensors are dead...with the long beep. The other is the interior lights not coming on when door opened. Puddle lights were ok and there was no sign of water ingress. Could it be a simple fix or is it likely to be the makings of serious problems?

Finally, the car didnt feel like it had much go in it. On kickdown it didnt feel willing. No faults on the dash though...

Any thoughts?

big car and only 155 bhp auto car review says takes over ten seconds to 60 thats is slow these days this car is ten years old with old tec.parking sensers could have water in them.i drove my old mondeo 2 lit tdci last week that seemed realy slow compaired to my superb

bottom line if your not happy there is always another one round the corner.

I took my one with same issues and still got it a year later

Still got this problems but no water in cabin

So we keep rolling .....

There isnt better motor than v6 2.5 TDI.

I have one in my Sup, and it is really faboulous.

I wouldnt agree with previous coment that 114kw or 155 bhp is little for that size car.

You can always buy 2.8, but I think its more better solution to get remapped.(if you really want speed(you can get apx 188 bhp(there is clip on yt))

All in all, if you think 2.5 tdi v6 is little for Superb I would advise you to buy Audi A8 with 4.2 motor, or maybe new Superb with 3.2 motor.

On my priority list when I buy a car speed sits very low.

Just get a 1.9tdi pd130 AWX engine and get it remapped. Plenty of go and much better MPG than the V6

Nah...1.9 just to small!

Buy 2.5!

Nah...1.9 just to small!

Buy 2.5!

Not at all... Only 25bhp less (easily cured with a remap) and the same torque figure. Plus it has lower co2 emissions.

1.9

I cant edit post, for me there isnt better engine for this car then 2.5 tdi, and thats it.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, I dont care about emmisions. ;)

My parking sensors are intermittent and I've learned not to trust them. My Dad's £22 Maplin set are utterly reliable and look to be the same size hole wise, so I'll probably just replace them all the next time one fails. Wouldn't be a deciding factor on a car for me.

Can't help you on the interior light - have you checked the bulbs?

Power - I've had a 1.9, now have a 2.5. The 1.9's a great engine. I like the big lazy V6. I'd have either one again. My 1.9 was flat as a pancake when I bought it, but a new Air Mass Meter soon put that to rights. Mapping is of course an option and the 1.9PD is much the more mappable engine IMO.

You pays your money....
