Reasonable price?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not planning on buying a Fabia vrs for a few months but am keeping my eyes peeled on the advertising websites (piston heads, auto trader, ebay, gumtree) and a few forums.

I have seen a nice 05 silver fabia vrs. the car has been fitted with coilovers and remapped and also sitting on some audi tt comps in dark gray and also has had the wide mouth mod done to the front bumper. The car has covered 84k and advertised with a dealer for £4295, dropped from £5100 (i think). Do you think this is a reasonable price? And do you think it's a good buy from what you've read so far? sensible to buy a remapped car?

I have e-mailed the dealer asking about service history, remap, coilovers etc, but have not had a reply.

I would be looking to pay £4k if it were me. The fact it's been modified always takes something away from the price also.

At 80k make sure that the cambelt + water pump have been changed. May be worth seeing if you can find out if the console bushes have been replaced as well :)

Seen that car for sale been for sale a while but I do like it! I actually posted a pic of it on my instagram because that's what I want mine like lol

Be good to find out who mapped it, if theres a decent map on it i say the price is pretty good with coilovers etc if thats what you was going to do anyway. Be nice to know what make coilovers are on it too.

I wouldn't say its a bad price, but i'd check the service history etc,,,, if that all checks up then i'd go for it. :)

Modified cars drop the value quite a bit, check the insurance as it may be quite high for a modified car. For that price it should have service history. There are loads of these cars about so don't rush.

Don't forget once it's had a widemouth done you can't change it back without a new bumper. Coilovers don't tend to last as long as standard suspension or could be seized so you might end up having to replace them any way. A remap is cheap enough to choose yourself and you can pick the nearest/best company for your needs and not someone elses.

Having said all that I bought a stage 2 Ibiza Cupra and it was the best car I've ever owned. There was no way I could find one standard as almost all had been modded so I went for the best modded one I could find with a huuge folder of receipts for all the work done.

I'd say either get a top notch modded one from someone off the forum or buy standard and do it yourself.

Thank's for the reply. Well, i have tried contacting the dealer about the map, coilovers and service history, but have had no reply.I will deffinetely be givivng them a phone call nearer the time when i'll be looking into buying. The car is pretty much as i want. A remap is cheap enough to change if needed and coilovers aren't too expensive (thinking of JOM'S)The car also comes with boost gauges, which are located in the winscreen pillar. Not sure if i like these, and if not would be easy enough to remove and possibly sell on (if worth anything) and replace the pillar covering with the standard one.

So you say that i'll have to get a new buper if i wanted it to look standard. How much would i be looking at for a new bumper? or a used? One lther thing i dont like is the sticker number plate. Is it possible to remove these damaging the paint?

if your looking for standard then just look around for standard matey, wouldn't the worth the time and hassle of you messing with it to put it back.
