I heard the vRS had a number of chassis improvements over standard. How true that is I do not know.

Different front anti roll bar arrangement and those braces in the boot dunno what else lol

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

Just need to correct suspension and brakes to carry the extra weight then anything else from the tdi. I immagine a a4 would make a good donor

Octavia and A4 are nothing like each other.

Transverse mounting of a 60 degree V6 is the head ache (hence VAG using the VR6 engine for this application) plus then finding a gearbox to fit etc.

I agree guys moving forward i done a aeb into my mk1 golf next time id buy a agu an save alotta hassel. I just wondered if it would of been hard to convert at this point if its a weekends swap to a tdi im happy enough with any of the varients as the sdi is reliable but slow... :D

any pics of the mk1, sounds awesome!

Got a 1999 110 tdi sport bora as a donor car last night seems on order except a broken spring.

How much is salvageable off it? Theres loads a cool gizmos like two flip keys rcl and auto wipers nicer clocks ew. To be honest i may

Aswell mot it instead lmao

Well... If you wanted you could do an engine swap from the Bora into the Octy...

Obviously the simpler thing would be to fix the spring on the Bora and MOT it.

So all in all a engine is all you think would be re usable?

There's quite a bit reusable. Seats, some trim, probably a fair amount of the suspension components, engine...

...Just depends on how much you're needing to swap.

The issue then comes from how much work do you want to do if all it'll take is a replacement of the spring to get the Bora working...

seats, engine, box, subframe, wishbones arb, rear beam, suspensions is not really rated for the octy, not much else i can think of.

Time is free! Lmao the only advantage i can see is the octys a slightly newer car with long mot n tax but on the other hand i can cover the cost of the bora fairly easy (cheep cheep) giveing me the free upgrades! But unless i know how interchangeable bits are its kinda fruitless brakeing the bora. I just dont like mots lmao :D

Cheers man thats a good start:D ive got a yard so storage isnt a issue. Anyone know if the exhausts will fit? Sdi ones blowing somewhere and its not a great pipe to weld to lmao

If you're doing an engine swap you'll need the downpipe from the bora anyway - TDI exhaust manifold and all that ;)

  • Author

I thought that but i was meaning are the exhausts mounted in the same places?

Suspension wise if i went to the fitted a tdi id buy a kit for it.

To my knowledge you should be good up to the back box - you might have problems then.

  • Author

Bonus man i think the back box is ok on sdi :D i think the octy looks nicer than the bora. All in all looking forward to a good look round the bora at the yard see what im playing with.
