Parking sensors and stereo volume.

Featured Replies

Can any one help at all? I have a standard bolero and factory fitted parking sensors. When the car was brand new the volume used to reduce when I selected reversed gear. It no longer does this, and I'd like it back. I've had a look in the manual but cannot find any reference to it.

Can someone tell me how to reset this please?

Thanks lots.

Charlie.

I don't have tne bolero radio, but when I select reverse on my octy with the amundsen one of the buttons shows a speaker symbol which when I press it switchs the auto volume reducer on and off each time I toggle it so you might have a similar button on your rad you've mistakenly pressed so suggest you select reverse and see if you get anything simlar if no one else knows the exact problem. Cheers Ade

On the stream, in the menu there's a PDC setting, adjust the number and it adjusts the volume. Not sure on yours but can't be too dissimilar!

It should be found by pressing the 'Tone' button and looking for PDC volume.

My (Columbus) usually dips the volume, but sometimes forgets to. Nothing permanent though.

If you have maxidot this can be controlled from it.

I've got the stream MP3 unit without maxidot. I've noticed that the change in volume is variable on mine too. I can't be cetain without testing it, but I think that when I put the car in reverse if I then turn the radio up or down, it remembers that volume for the next time.

I've had a play and presing the toggle switch on the end of the wiper stalk for more than 2 seconds gets you into the menu, look for the PDC volume as already advised by toggling the rocker switch and using the button underneath to select and you should be able to find the factory reset to go back to how it was before. You can also change the volume and tone in this opion on mine too

Thanks all. Will try this tomorrow morning.

Charlie.

Functionality was changed on one of the Bolero firware upgrades, the one which makes it find MP3 files quicker. Radio volume used to be controllable from the radio head unit, but no longer. Now you can only turn the reversing sesnor volume up from the Maxidot.

The volume of the beeps (and pitch) was only ever available to change via Maxidot and then only on FL (AFAIK) or with VCDS.

The music volume reduction when reverse is engaged is available on Bolero & Columbus and probably others as well.

Only the newer Columbus units have this option. I wanted it on mine which is an early 2008 unit and did a lot of research into this. But even upgrading the firmware hasn't provided the option that is mentioned in the later Columbus manuals - from early 2009 if I recall correctly.
