Mobile Email support with MS exhange2003

Featured Replies

Right: md wants a mobile/pda that he can keep synced with his outlook (exchange server2003) and send recieve when hes out and about.

He likes the look of the SE p910.. but im not sure if this is suitable.. it allows syncronisation with outlook, but as far as i can see will not allow him to send/receive over gprs.

Blackberry is another option, but im struggling to find out any useful information about it, and its intergration with exchange.

the most interesting one is exchange activesync.. part of exchange server 2003.

has anyone got any experience with this? is it just a posh name for blackberry? and do i have to have a MS pocket device to use it?

can anyone help? :)

Exchange activesync uses certificates to authenticate, dont know much about the p910 but the p800 sync was manual and required you to select the sync option from a rather clunky windows 16 bit application.

I have a Blackberry, unforunatly information on it is a bit of a grey area

You can sync it with up to 10 email address, simple to do, I have 3 different email address to mine, one of which being MS outlook...

Very very usefull phone, big screen can recieve lots of info, emails are recieved just like a text and are instantaneous (sp?) can view attachments also like word, excel, pictures etc etc... Emails are also sent like a text, instantaneous, qwerty keyboard...

Me, the MD, and the people on site all have one, couldnt be without one for the business

As you say "sync it up".. is your outlook email run off an exchange server?

and can it be completely independent from your desktop machine?

James - how do you find that device to type - most of the people i meet find that 2-key qwerty keyboard a disaster!

XDA III and their clones are pretty nice PDAs , but the phone side if things is average at best. Should be easy to get working with Exchange 2003 though

I was a bit of a wiz on my old Nokia, could knock up v. quick msg's...

The 7100 took some time getting used to, and was a nightmare to begin with, but now I find I can knock up an email quicker than with the Nokia, also less strain on the thumbs due to the pad being a bit more 'spread'
