Not really... You have to take weight etc into consideration.

03 plate Golf or Polo GT?

Sorry updated the post. Well spotted.

Fabia FTW on power to weight

I may be wrong but i thought Skoda modifed the boost pipe design on the fabia pd130 to provide more tourqe than the equivilant golf, i read it somewhere.

Same power, less weight, the obvious answer is that the Golf will be quicker, yes.

Realistically, it depends on the specific engines and mapping, the 03 Golf will be ASZ, an 06 Fabia would probably be a BLT. It's been said that BLT engines put out more than 130bhp, so the Fabia could win if it was BLT-based. But taking everything by the book, 130bhp/1260kg would be quicker than 130bhp/1310kg.

Easy. Fabia every time.

I would of thought the golf would of been heavier... that is really surprising.

Another thing to consider is does the 03 golf have longer ratios than the 06 vRS with shorter ratios.

According the parkers the Golf is 0.1 second slower to 60 and 1mph slower on top speed.

The Fabia has 1lb-ft of torque more than the golf.

Indeed, I came to the Fabia via the SEAT Leon, the Fabia books heavier than that too.

So in reality, it's neck & neck lol

bloody hell I'd have thought the Golf was heavier

Snap same here I would of thought the Golf would be heavier also, never realised the Fabia was sooo heavy.

And I'd beat them both... 1238KG and a lower drag coefficient. Hehe!

What the hell makes it so heavy.. In my opinion the golf has a lot more interior and better material than the fabia so I would of thought it was heavier.

Maybe they measured this with a fat bloke sat in the fabia??!

You're forgetting one thing.....

A Fabia 2.0 would sail past both of them and drive off into the sunset.

You mean it would take them like a king?!

The dervs would catch them up when the 2.0 needs to stop for fuel though :giggle:

Check out the weight for the PD150 Golf. From memory it's a fair chunk heavier than a PD130 Golf. I seriously doubt the weight of the FMIC and bigger compressor wheels = several kgs! ;)

So not sure if the PD150 or the PD130 is the error, but logic would point to the 130 being wrong.

We need to arrange a standard golf and fabia on a track to settle this one ;)

Looks like we may have a winner. Random Googling turns up some other results, putting the Golf PD130 at 1309kg and the Fabia PD130 at 1315kg. So much closer, although still balanced slightly in the Golf's favour, surprisingly. And there are minor differences between the models of course, the Fabia has electronic boot opening which might add a bit of weight, electric power steering so a different model of pump to the Golf, etc. I'm sure there are bits that could make up a few kg even though it's a physically smaller car.

What I don't get, is why on the site gac quotes, is the PD150 ~35kg heavier? I thought they were the same except a larger turbo? Meh, one of life's mysteries maybe?

Edit - heavier than the PD130 Golf
