Re: remapped 120d - not that quick, friend has one ('06) and wasn't too impressed with it even after remap. He said the vrs probably quicker. He's also got the fn2 ctr now and it's a bag of fun.

My brother having owned a ep3 I was driving it most weekends, was complety standard and I was never overly impressed with its handling. And comparing it to my fabia when it was lowered on weitec coil overs and a anti roll bar, the fabia felt allot more solid around corners and although I have never tested but I would imagine the ep3 would be no better at corners than the fabia.

That being said you could say well spend £££ on the ep3`s suspension and it will then out corner the fabia. But then again dont compare the handling of a 200bhp hot hatch to a 130bhp fabia vrs.

Had my car mapped by Shark on Saturday (at long last!)

Just had a 'run in' with a lovely 54 plate EP3 with exhaust and suspension mods at the least. Rolling start from 2nd gear and he 100% did NOT pull on the little Fab. It was only when we got to higher figures that he pulled a couple of lengths on me. Please be aware that the lad did know how to drive it - I could hear it above my stereo!! Nice flash of the lights then hazards back to me.

I will be honest and say that I thought he would muller me once he got into the VTEC. The reality of it is that when he did get into that zone I was already riding the torque in the next gear....

I'm nearly 30 and have had much quicker cars than the vRS before, and really did think he was going to paste me. ....but it just wasn't the case, simple as.

I'm sure this will add to the debate - I just wanted to stick up for the lads that are getting laughed at here. EP3, quicker yes, but not by much at all.

I am VERY impressed with this little car! To think it does over 50mpg as well :-)

We are talking about a 196bhp EK9 which is the 98ish shaped civic, which is allot lighter than the newer ep3. and sitting at 198bhp ALLOT faster than the newer K series engine in the EP3.

And you can not compare one race. My friend had a 208bhp DC2 integra, drag raced him a few times at a closed airstrip and their were races he pulled 4 car (wasnt that long a runway) lenghts, but one time I was within one car length. That is simply when he missed a gear or over reved it ect ect ect, By no means would I say that my fabia was anywhere near as quick as his DC2.

I'm not here to argue the toss over who's private parts are bigger than someone else's - I'm just stating my experience of this, as EP3 has come into the conversation along the lines on this thread!! If the guy had fluffed a change, then I would've gained on him at some point, if not just for a very short time.

At the end of the day it's all relative - if I wanted to I could just get on my motorbike and there's very little on the road that could ever come even close to it. Which looking at your username it would seem that you'd understand this! My point is that these Fabias are exceptional little cars when you take into account the economy, price of the car, and performance when a small £300 is thrown at it! I'm extremely happy with it for a daily car.
