ha :D

196BHP ek9 would pull away from a 184bhp fabia noticeably every time if driven right. I Drag raced (private airstrip)a friends ek9 and his was rolling roaded at 181bhp and my fabia was 183 and he pulled away with ease every time.

This is also my experience when having a bit of fun with a ek9s. Also my friend had a 165bhp civic coupe and that was identical in straight line speed

Do we still have the popcorn smiley? I've lost it.

This will have to do instead.

I hope that's not Ezz your referring to Mo lol.

I can't believe there is even a discussion between these two cars! They are completely different. I have owned an EP3 Type R (standard ish) and a re-mapped VRS and the EP3 is faster in every way, fact. I can't see how a modded EK9 would be any different. Doesn't mean its a better all-round car for the road though ;)

Its not :)

I don't understand how people are denying and suggesting that the Fabia isn't capable of keeping up with an EP3/EK9.... Basically all of my mates drive Hondas and I probably know them better than i do Fabia's.

In my experience, the Fabia is perfectly capable of keeping up with an EP3 up until about 70mph... Sure after 70mph the Hondas' will take off and they sound/handle so much better. In terms of acceleration there isn't much in it.

EP3 0-60 is about 6.5s

vRS 0-60 is about 9.2s - remapped (broadcast on this forum) - around 6.5s

Ateod he did pull away after a bit I think if he was really ragging it 100% he'd of pulled away sooner. So not far of what you are saying, 060 of 6.5 send optimistic?

I reckon of I'd of driven it it would have been different as I've owned Hondas before.

if you wasnt 100% its all abit pointless. if you was a honda driver how do you know you are driving the diesel to its full? just think its a stupid thread, go to santa pod etc and post real results!

True, didn't know Santa pod did 20mph to x runs.

Pish thread! CTR will win everytime

True, didn't know Santa pod did 20mph to x runs.

they dont thats why i said go there and get real results

they dont thats why i said go there and get real results

IMO 20-xx speeds is more "real" as more relevant to the real world

But how do you know you are both at exactly at 20? How do you know when to go?

What more real than a set of lights and a print out at the end.

Also how is racing 20-90 real world, it illegal on the streets.

Race on a legal drag strip or a track day to see what faster than what. This thread should of been locked ages ago as it pointless so thats my last 2 pence as it will get even more pointless soon as im right and everyone else is wrong so nurrrrrrr ;)

CTR's are slow FACT !!!

I raced a ek9 rolling roaded at 181 bhp and my fabia is 183 bhp (remaped with pd150 garrett turbo) granted the ek9 doesnt start to pull away that much until 40-50 mph where it starts to put the power down, you can not compare the 2 cars performance wise.

CTR's are slow FACT !!!

Sorry but I have to disagree, slow in comparison to what, 250+bhp cars? for a 200bhp car, ctr`s are a great going car. unless you are referring to the latest civic typr r which would be allot more sluggish than the previous ep3 and ek9.

In gear the Fabia is great, 4th gear @ 40 mph, 5th gear @ 70mph, it really does pull and can catch alot of quick cars out.

Great for what for what it is and should be compared to Fiesta ST's, Corsa Sri and does put up a fight.

If the Fabia had came out of factory @ 160bhp instead of 130bhp, then it would have been worth a compare.

It's just unfair comaparing it to a Type R

Which are nothing special speed wise anyway.

Fella at my work place has a 2007 3 MPS, with over 300bhp and not far from 500nm, it will eat an ep3, ek9, dc2 etc in a straight line.

Real sleepers, look like a normal 1.4 Mazda 3.

I would like to see a mapped BMW 120d take on a Type R though, mate of mine has the 320d with the same engine running @ 230bhp and 460nm.It's alot quicker than my Fabia and I can only imagine how quick the 120d is.

CTR's are slow FACT !!!

I normally stay away from pointless willy waving threads like this - but this comment made me laugh out loud.

CTR's arent a massivley fast car by any means, but having owned a standard Ibiza, then got it remapped, then made it hybrid turbo, then sold it and bought a CTR (ep3 'coz its the bestest yo), I think I qualify to say that CTR's would happily wee over a stage 1 remapped fabia/ibiza if you're ragging the boobs off it. That said, it wasnt as fast as the hybrid, but it wasnt far off! (Faster around a track though ;))

I agree though - the CTR's are dog slow if you drive them like a Fab as I think my legs have more torque, but they just have to be driven properly.

As mentioned, you cant really compare the two cars, especially from a 20mph start where you're sat nicely in that huge lump of torque that the diesel has, of course the Fab will pull away!

Also, I've been dying to say it, can I say it please??.... show it a corner

Dosn't matter about the mechanics of the car in real life driving............

we can't legally use all the power on the open road.......

Fast controlled driving is all down to SKILL..........

Unfortunately it seems that those with the biggest ego problems (S.D.S...= Small **** Syndrone).......have the least skill.........

Anyway there will shortly be a Skoda City-go to beat the living **** out everything even in winter and around the corners!!!!!! :D

You can beat your wife, you can beat your kids, but you'd never beat a Honda :hi:

"It takes very little ability to drive a car fast - a housebrick is capable of doing it. Stopping and going round corners is where the skill really lies."

- A very wise man (my grandad)

I had a fabia vrs remapped with fmic, now own a civic type r ep3.

Type R wins in every aspect (apart from MPG).

They are totally different cars, cant really compare the two.

The End.

I loved blowing the shizz out of ep3 ctr's with my hybrid fabia. :)

Its all relative though if your talking stock vs. stock a ctr will blow a fabia vrs

If you say the fabia can be mapped the surely to make it fair the ctr can have a k-pro on it (230bhp)

Thats a level playing field and the ctr will smoke it.
