Pinch bolt sizes? or part numbers.... cant continue with UPGRADE

Featured Replies

Hi,

After following TeflonTom's thread on the break upgrade i ahve had the uprights drilled to take m12, they are going back to have the shock holder bored to 62mm also as tt states so thanks!

Anyways to the point. I am changing the front wheel bearings, top mounts, lower ball joints and outer cv joints, what i need to know is what size are the two pinch bolts? so the one that holds the lower ball bolt on and the one that holds suspension strut on?

CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE SIZE OF EACH OR PART NUMBERS?

Thanks,,,

erm you won't bore the hub out to 62mm to take a tt strut, there is not enough material there to do it, the pinch bolt is M10 and you can just measure how long it needs to be and buy some high grade shank m10 bolts with locknuts from anywhere that sells em.

Hi,

I meant bored out to 62mm to take mk4 golf front coilover as per tt (Teflon Tom) states. I currently have mk4 coilovers fitted at the moment but i dont want the pickup off the road at all so i am trying to make it a bolt on and go job!. Thanks for the bolt size... any idea on the bottom one?

Cheers

Paddy

Skoda still list and sell the correct pinchbolts for leg and bottom ball joint, not sure which you meant

You'll never get a a3/mk4/tt strut in there in a million years, there's not enough meat there to machine it out that far. If I said before in the distant past that they would fit then I was totally wrong.. You are better off going with mk1 ford focus struts for a direct fit.

the part numbers you need are

Shock absorber pinch bolt N10438601.. The dimensions of the bolt is m10x1.25x65 (fine pitch)

Shock absorber nut N90791701.. Which is m10x1.25 (fine pitch)

Ball joint pinch bolt N0104457 dimensions m10x45x20 ( basically a standard pitch m10 bolt which is 45mm long but the thread doesn't start till 20mm away from the head)

Ball joint nut N10286102.

all of these are high tensile 10.8 grade, I highly recommend buying these from the dealer tbh, then you can be sure they are the right spec bolts for the application, it's something like a fiver for the lot. Hope this helps.
