has anyone actually ordered one or taken delivery yet?

Featured Replies

has anyone on here ordered or taken delivery of a rapid yet?

at the citigo launch dealers had orders before people saw the car and a number due for delivery pretty much on launch day

the rapid seems not have been well recieved by people or media

if you have ordered one, simple question what swayed the decision instead of a fabia or octavia?

  • I've ordered one, with 3 months delivery. We spent a while looking at possible new cars ended up with a short-list of 1.2TSI because of the combination of performance, running costs and proven/reliabl

  • I remember around Mk1 Superb release, there were plenty of comments that VAG only allowed it as there were no sensibly priced family cars on the market with enough legroom for tall drivers, certainly

  • If we are playing "Rapid Spotting"....just seen my 1st one on the road. It was that bright light blue colour ?? and at a glance looked really nice.

If I was buying I would seriously consider one, Fabia too small and the Mrs thinks the Octavia is a bit too big, so at change time if I can get a good deal on one 12/18 months old max 10k miles it might be the next car

but for me yesterday when i sat in a rapid, it felt as though there was less space inside the car, but the boot was huge

but for me a fabia estate gives better space in the boot and interior space over the rapid, depends how much you want a hatchback over a estate

That's quite interesting, because I found the Rapid exactly the same size as the Fabia in the passenger compartment, but due to it's big boot it's nearly as big as an Octavia outside as the newer, bigger, Octavia is not here yet.

So it suits people that want a Fabia sized car inside with a bigger boot that's also hatchback?

I can understand people ordering it when the new Fabia and Octavia come out.

But right now a Fabia estate just seems to make a lot more sense.

i did not seem to have the room by mey knees and the windscreen is closer (notice how little distance between instrument binacle from the bottom of screen, good 4-5 inches less than my fabia estate)

drivers seat did not seem to be able to go far enough back for me to get a comfortable position

will also be interesting to see encap crash test results for drivers left knee as where they have now placed the steering reach/rake lever on left of column right next to my knee, and lots of hard stractures close by as well

bossfox, the only way i can see it making sense when the mk3 fabia comes out is if they remove the estate option or they will still have the same issues with the range

they can't really make the fabia smaller or it will close in on the citigo customer base, i can see making the octavia bigger making sense but still see conflict between fabia estate and rapid product lines

I've ordered one, with 3 months delivery. We spent a while looking at possible new cars ended up with a short-list of 1.2TSI because of the combination of performance, running costs and proven/reliable technology. Looked at the Leon SE Copa, Fabia Estate and Rapid. The Rapid felt better to drive for me and was more comfortable with five adults for the road test, possibly because of the longer wheelbase? Even with the weedy 86PS version of the engine it performed more willingly and eagerly than the Leon! We also found the interior open and spacious, especially compared to the back of the Leon.

For my needs the Rapid appears to be the best car on the market right now.

Hope u enjoy it, Simian Boy, look foward to hearing about it in 3 months

i sat in one sat nice car look at the colours which colour mite have white black or red i think white with the roof black with black and polished wheels

would look good but giveing up the full glass roof would be hard on the roomster ive only seen the silver so fare in ther fapid

so a luke warm reception with very few people feeling positive about it

looking at the pricing are skoda trying to move above SEAT in the VAG company pecking order?

i think putting all those mid spec'ed cars loaded with hi cost (not necessarilly good value) extras does give a false impression of higher cost than real life and a bad move, as it says to me "look how expensive you can make a bland average car cost"

i also think there is a percieved drop in the quality of the interior plastics and components which helps add to the lack of interest and critisism about the model

combine that with the fact that at the moment it appears to be aimed squarely at the current octavia's market with a lower spec, poor engine range and nearly the same prices, and the new octavia 3 will not be out for another 6-12 months which will do the same trick with the superb until the new superb model comes out it really does not make sense and does not help Skoda's brand / image

Not sure on the pricing strategy vs SEAT, as the Toledo and Rapid are pretty much matched price for price..... And that will be sitting between the Ibiza and the 2013 Leon as the Rapid sits between Fabia and 2013 Octavia

It will be interesting to get your feedback once you have it on your drive and use it for a daily commute / run around, as often you notice more little bits good and bad and can give a more balanced view of life with the car

Certainly will - I'm hoping that it will live up to the standard set by my old Octavia - how I wish I hadn't replaced that!

What spec, options and colour have you ordered Simian?

What spec, options and colour have you ordered Simian?

Elegance TSI in Corrida Red (his and hers matching cars on the drive  ), Ivory interior (plus Supaguard!)

Options: Spare wheel, rear parking sensors, rear seat armrest (aka child divider)

Anything else seemed unnecessary (or unnecessarily expensive) for a four mile each way daily commute....

4 mile each way is not going to be good for the car, not even going to get half way to warming up so mpg likely to be carp

Unless 3 of those 4 miles is at 50-60mph.

But right now a Fabia estate just seems to make a lot more sense.

I'm really not a fan of the Fabia estate, it's a bit 'noddy with it being thin and quite high.

I still think there is room for them both in the range...

The 1.2 engines (HTP & TSI) warm up pretty quickly from our ownership experience; the HTP particularly so. The Yeti's 2.0TDI on the other hand takes forever in low temps and often fails to generate enough heat to keep the DPF happy despite 36 mile commutes; active regeneration is common occurrence in winter :S

I actually saw a Rapid on the road today - a first!

I quite like the look of it. Very like a Jetta, at first glance.

Give it 3 years or so and perhaps a mid-life face lift, then I'll seriously consider buying one.

Visited a dealer today. The Rapid does not appear to have captured the imagination of the consumer!

Or rather the prospective rapid emptying of customers' wallets did not capture imagination, 40% more rapid outflow rate than in Czech Republic...

I have to admit that I'd quite like a specced up one in Sprint Yellow with aftermarket black alloys and a little boot spoiler.

But I'm not ready to commit financial suicide (again) yet. Plus the Yeti is doing a great job.

The blue Rapid in the showroom is around £18k and on the PCP they are indicating a value of around £5k after 3 years.

I know they may be allowing for a bit of deposit for the next car in there, but it doesnt fill me with confidence.

Looks like it'll shed value fairly quickly.
