Fabia VRS misfire when cruising

Featured Replies

How do folks,

My fabia 56 plate vrs (BLT engine) feels like it is misfiring at cruising speed (very light throttle not under boost), if it had a coil pack I would be convinced it would be that!

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? I cleaned out the EGR valve and ASV last week and fitted a smaller gasket and its not made any difference.

When driving and accelerating under boost it seems fine.

Cheers

I think i know exactly what you mean.

Do you find if you are driving steady (not going over 2.5rpm) if you change gear just under 2rpm its like someone has hit the brakes and then let go. I get this sometimes - More when the engine is cold.

Recently had the EGR and Inlet manifold cleaned and this made it happen less often but it still happens sometimes. My car is 06 plate BLT engine also.

If i drive the car harsh I don't get this either.

a vrs cant misfire can it because the is no spark as its a diesel

u may get the feeling of misfire because its not running right

Hence why I said it 'feels like a misfire', I know there is no spark. It reminds me of driving a car with a timing issue on the spark.

It's not after changing gear either it's when I am cruising steadily at 2.5k revs

My Golf misfired under load too. Never did solve it.

Could misfire if it's injecting badly I guess? Not the injector loom in the head issue?

it has to be something with injecting i would of thought does it still pull well when trying and driving hard?

maby try giving it a good old rag and let it warm up and cool properly sometimes cleans a bit of rubbish of the injectors

only thing you could try is unplug the battery for a hour (40 mins i think exact)

its a old vw trick it lets the ecu reset its self ( i normally put something over the connectors ON CAR NOT BATTERY to help the current all leave the car)

and have ever done a diagnostics on it with vagcom or simlar

I had this a while ago, it felt like a jerking when steady at speed but not accelerating. I found it out to be a partially collapsed fuel filter and when replaced it was like new. For £12 ish its gotta be worth a go?

Cheers folks. Its just had a full service so it'll not be the fuel filter, I was wondering that myself.

What is the injector loom on the head issue?

Never had diagnostics done... is there anyone local to Preston who could have a look?

If you can pop over to West Yorkshire I can run a diagnostic check.

That said - If your problem is the same as mine VCDS will not pick anything up.
