Eurocarparts and Sparkplugs

Featured Replies

I ordered some spark plugs for my car as part of its service, put in my reg they came up with NGK and proceeded to order, Plugs arrived today only they have sent PFR6Q.

I checked two websites sparkplugs.co.uk and NGK partfinder and both are saying the plugs should be PFR7S8EG

Could someone confirm this for me as Eurocarparts are adamant its the correct part.

hey this is something ive picked up on before when i was searching round for parts, i pulled the tech info up for each plug on sparkplugs.co.uk

http://spark-plugs.c...ails/PFR6Q/3807

http://spark-plugs.c...s/PFR7S8EG/3814

there is a considerable difference in the length and the size of the socket to fit them, i think best way to sort this is to remove a plug and measure it, hopefully an original skoda part.

its a bummer when different sites give conflicting information, who do you believe.

i normally always research, cross refernce part no.s to make sure i get the right part.

ive also searched for a golf gti as it has the same engine too.

Cheers mate appreciate the reply, i sent NGK and email to see if they could help

"Dear Graham,

I can confirm that PFR7S8EG (Stock code 1675) is the recommended item for

your vehicle. PFR6Q is not suitable to be fitted to your vehicle.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Bloody Eurocarparts feeding me false info!!

Ngk's phone number is 01442 281000 ask for technical. they will speak to you on the phone, i have done this many times. im sure mik who sent the e-mail is the guy i speak too, he knows his stuff.

i think ngk are wrong, ive just searched again on sparkplugs.co.uk but his time for denso

http://spark-plugs.co.uk/index.php/products/details/PK20PR-P8/303

these are the same as PFR6Q, come to think about the last time i checked my plugs i used a 16mm socket (ive just checked my sparkplug tool and its definitely 16mm), so i would say ngk are wrong and the PFR6Q IS the right plug.

I'm not sure i think PFR6Q is for the older AGU 1.8T engine in the MK4 Golf

This comfirms NGK are correct

feck im confused now , it still looks like a 19mm thread reach though!!!! :wall:

You might want to check with the dealer mate, I always buy plugs from the dealer but the last time they were a different part number. I was told Skoda had changed their minds on which plug to use, that could be where the confusion comes from.
