Plastidip

Featured Replies

Anyone ever tried it??, i quite fancy doing my wheels as they are looking a bit rough and it seems to be a semi permanent coating, when you get bored you simply peel it back

This is how you peel it off

Why stop at the wheels? I saw this vid the other night WOW I would love to try it bet Harry would have given it a go if he hadn't wrapped.

yeh i seen that i like my blue though, wheels are cheaper to fix if i ever feck it up lol.

They had the black, smoke and metalizer aerosol back in stock when I checked on the UK website last week.. They did a really good gunmetal with the black and the metalizer on the 'dip your car' YouTube channel... -_-

Typical black is out of stock!!

didn't 'the jackal' do this to a minivan to get away from the police? :p

Have seen an Audi in white with orange graphics around. The orange wheels would look quite good on that. :)

and a whole load easier to remove too by the look of things too! :)

To anyone who's done the wheels: how well does it take being kerbed?

Thanks for posting the original videos Grizzle! :)

This might be fun.

They do custom colours (I wonder if it includes gold....)

This might be fun.

Glow in the dark wheels ;)

Glow in the dark wheels ;)

Why stop at the wheels, go for the full on Scooby Doo effect.

I tried to colour code my grille in Plastidip black and was not happy with the results despite proper keying of the initial chrome and using Plastidips own primer. Perhaps my mistake was using a spray can as opposed to a brush (the volume needed to dip was massively cost prohibitive). It was very watery to apply and easy to run. It also dried with an orange peel effect in my case and was expensive.

I suspect my technique was all wrong an more aligned to using a can of normal spray paint. If I did it again, I would be a lot more patient and build up in 5 or 6 or more very thin coats (even if the surface still showed through after the first 3 or 4) with adequate drying time in between.
