1.2 TSI running in engine?

Featured Replies

Ive read alot about how to run in the 1,4 TSI engine in the VRS.

Some people say no revving, some say lots of revs..

How should you run in the 1.2 TSI? High, low rpms?

Its a 86ps with manual gearbox.

Or dont i have to worry about that at all and just run it in in regular traffic how i usually drive?

Just drive normally using all the revs and gears. Obiviously don't redline it in every gear all the time but don't baby it. Wait till it warms up till you give it some beans aswell

Yep, give it some work to do, don't baby it around.

Just drive normally. Dont go above 3/4 of the rev range in any gear for about 1500km. And not to let the engine lag. My last car was a 1.2 TSI (86)ps great engine about 46mpg combined

thanks for all the feedback.

What so you mean by "don't let the engine lag"?

Don't let it labour at too low revs. If you are below 1500rpm, change down.

The dealer told me to take it easy for the first 500 miles before i put my foot down.

yes thats to let your brakes bed in and the tyres to run in as not a lot of grip when new

I will stay out of this one with my widely considered as OTT running-in techniques
