Felicia ignition switch - very unreliable?

Featured Replies

Perhaps 2 years ago, I replaced the switch as it stopped working just out of the blue. I had to wiggle the key and by chance it would usually start.

The other day, again out of the blue it stopped working again. It's only been in for few thousand miles as I only use it 80 miles a week.

I fitted a proper part from Jorily, so assumed it would last the car out. It's not expensive, but takes so much work to do as you might know.

Are these switch prone to conking out so regularly? If so, is there a better alternative from elsewhere?

Touch wood no ignition related probs so far, but door lock mechanism failures yes! There's either an underlying problem there or you've just been unlucky. The only other thing that may be a factor could be the ingress of dirt/grime contributing to failure?? Hope you can again resolve

When it's not :rain: ... I'll have to get the dashboard and steering column apart again. The switch may have disconnected from the barrel?

Drivers lock broke a while back, so I swapped the passenger side to the drivers and vice versa. Now I have a working drivers lock... :giggle:

Yeah sounds familiar! Until you get back into it you're not going to know for certain. Must get round to fixing the drivers side lock on the Fabia, as currently relying on the passenger side to activate central locking etc. ;)
