MPG to litres/hour

Featured Replies

I now have VCDS, and keen to have a play. I remember reading on here a while back something about changing the on-board computer to read in litres/100km instead of MPG. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this in VCDS - I am new to it?

I would also want, if indeed possible, to enable automatic follow me home lights, instead of having to do this manually - is this possible on the Superb?

I thought you could that with the on-board system.

How Danny57?

Don’t think you can on the MKI, the MFD on the MKII has much more user changeable things.

To the OP have a look under Instruments and then Adaptations or Coding.

The Superb I (3U model) only has an electrical relay to control the "Coming Home Lights", so it has to be manually activated with the flasher stalk.

If you want to display l/100km you need to change the Country Code in the softcoding of the cluster.

Unfortunately because it is a metric measurement, you will also end up with a km odometer reading as well.

If you look on my Webspace here, there is a list of features for each Country Code about halfway down the page:

:hi:

I have l/100km set on my cluster.

To change display from mpg to l/100km and also get l/hr in idle, change instrument cluster coding from 31415 to 31115.

Go to instrument cluster - coding, write down the old code, put in the new one. If old code is not 31415, just change the 3rd digit in old code. What you are doing is setting the cluster to "EU" instead of "UK".

One important side effect is that odometer will display km not miles, but you can switch back to miles by coding back to old code (31415 or whatever you had). Remember to switch back to original UK coding before each MOT or you will find that your car covered extreme mileage from last MOT ;)

I do not think coming home lights can be coded, as it is a separate relay on Mk1 Superb.

Thank you guys, that's exactly the information I needed.

I kind of like the odo in km, looking forward to seeing 200 000 (km) on it

Good point about MOT time reset back to miles!
