Confusing pipework

Featured Replies

I still am experiencing some dificulties with my Octavia idling poorly and hesitant with power. The garage I use tracked it to a completely split pipe. No worries, I will change it out. Except I can't find the pipe anywhere, further more, the setup on my car doesn't seem to look like any of the other setups on here! The pipe that is currently being bodged by a pipe over the top (you can see the rusty jubilee clip holding the pipe over the top).

Anyone able to shed any light on what parts I might need? Or where to get them? I have dropped a mail to w8performance to see if they can help.

where does the pipe coming from the rocker cover go to?

As above where does that pipe go to from rocker cover ??

All you need is a y piece silicone

Breather pipes should look like this, obviously with manifold other way tho but its best pic i have

They are silicone jobs, save as what clive or W8 sells i believe, i would get all 3 and then its fit and forget

Just been out to trace where the pipe from the rocker cover goes to, and the plot thickens;

Would suggest getting the Y pipe for starters!

Did you buy the car like this? I am sure that pipe with the filter on is all wrong and I'll be surprised if its ever run right.

Yep, that's going to cause your fueling to be all over the place.

either get the Y pipe and try to reconstrust to standard or have a look at some of the oil catch cans that people have installed if you want a bit of a challenge.

Yeah I bought it like this, looks like an oil breather (something which I had no idea was fitted) never really thought at the time to ferret about under the bonnet. So to get back to standard, I guess I need the Y pipe and the lower PCV hose? Is there a pipe needed to connect to the top of the ypipe?

this is your problem you need to get rid of them pipes they put in and go back to the standard way !!!

by doing it this way will cause running issues

you need the Y pipe as in the pic below yours

hope this helps

The cam breather is just vented to atmosphere which on most other engines would be absolutely fine but for the retarded way VAG piped up the crank breather to the inlet it won't work.

It's not a crazy setup, on most older turbo setups it would be fairly common

Change it to the standard pipe.
