Fixed it!

It has burnt out the fuel relay, new one in, 2 second job, running smooth again :D

Couldn't hear the fuel pump on my old ZX; of course the fact that I used the ignition live on/off to control the stereo may have had soemthing to do with that.

Friend has a D-turbo 306 and he said he couldt hear the fuel pump, im guessing the 1.4 (saxo engine) must be different as there is a very obvious buzz when you turn the key.

Could of easily started a fire though, good old Peugeot!

Keep a spare fuse with you, when it does that it usually means either the pump is dying or the tank is full of crud that's blocking it.

The XUD powered cars had the fuel pump under the bonnet rather than a tank pump IIRC, although it's been a while.

According to my Xantia manual, the XUD cars mount the LP pump as part of the HP injection pump.

According to the ZX petrol manual, a petrol car mounts the pump under floor, but there's an access panel on the RHS under the rear seat.
