Mirror Demist

Featured Replies

My right hand mirror wont demist. Skoda dealer tells me it's a wiring problem in the door that will take 120 quid to fix. They seemed pretty confident about what needed doing which implies it might be a common problem. Is there anything I can do myself?

Could simply be the mirror glass heater. You could probably DIY it.

Assuming you dont leave it on all the time (move the switch back after each use) or touch the glass when it's on?

Is your car still under warranty? This clearly seems to be a manufacturing mistake which should be covered under warranty

Only an extended warranty which doesn't cover wires :rain:

If there is a warranty in place, I would expect them to at least try a replacement mirror glass, to rule out a failed element.

Seems odd that they've jumped straight to a wiring issue, if that's not been checked.

I tend to leave it on all the time - is it better to turn it off when not using it?

Yes!!!!..........only switch on when needed.......

.......I think they do have an adjustable (in VCDS) auto off timer..........but defo don't use the heaters if you don't need them!

Do you know where this is?

SWMBO's always forgetting to turn off.

Never spotted that one before, but it might be in there somewhere :)

Would imagine it's under Central Electrics?
