Soon to be VRS owner saying hello!

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Have posted in the Welcome section but thought I'd say hello here as well. I'm AJ and from Medway in Kent area.

So my car history;

My other car (currently) is a 2003 Audi A4 1.9 TDI 130 Quattro Sport - wasn't offered a lot as part of a trade in, so currently for sale :)

First car - Peugeot 207 1.4 S. Ended badly when a lorry tried to share my lane...

Got a new for old replacement through insurance company, then sold it and upgraded to a 207 GT Diesel, loved the car but insurance quote after the first year was crazy (£5500) - this may have been due to having a bump in my car and writing the courtesy car off while mine was being repaired, bad year...

Changed to a Fiesta Zetec-S TDCi, worst car ever, so many issues, hated it and never trusted it at all.

Then got the A4, and although I love it I've always wanted an Octavia VRS, and now with the new one coming out thought it was a great time to buy!

Anyhow, now found a 12 plate race blue Octavia VRS with 7600 miles on the clock, and picking it up next Saturday :D Can't wait! Sure I will see you guys around :) Will post some pics once I have her.

Haha, you're a funny one aren't you :p

Cheers mate, paid £16,800. From what I could see that was a fair price, and tbh there aren't many left so if I hesitate it would have been gone.

Indeed, hopefully it will sell quickly though ;)

I have a few questions of what I should be expecting when picking up the car;

I believe new Skoda's come with Road Side Assistance - does second hand one's come with the same assistance?

Take it the 3 year warranty should still be valid as well (I am buying the car from a Skoda dealers) and I can still extend this at some point to the 100k mile, 5 year warranty?

Anything else I should look/ask for?

I think the Skoda Assist is for 3 yrs irrespective of the owner. You should check though!

Enjoy your new car!

( I presume you cover plenty of miles as you have chosen the devil's fuel? )

Yes will ask on Sat but was just wondering :)

I do indeed do a lot of miles, and soon will be doing more - but I do love the torque of a diesel :p

Bump :)

Not sure of the cost but if you get the button unit only the unit is the one on the right with the scrolling wheel, that is for a facelift, the other is for a pre-facelift. I believe it is more than just putting the unit on the wheel. There may be a steering wheel controller and coding of the car so it knows you have the MFSW. There are companies who will put a wheel on the car and code it for you. You will get the balance of the warranty, there should be a form in the handbook wallet to fill in and send off or the dealer could do it for you.

I just picked up my blue vRS a couple of weeks ago, with 5600 miles on the clock. Sounds very similar to yours.

The Skoda Assist stays with the car, so you'll get that, along with the balance of the warranty of course. I didn't ask them about extending the warranty though....

Brilliant. Thanks guys. Only 2 more days :-D

I have a MFSW retrofitted to my FL vRS & can supply any info you need. PM Me.

These links you have posted are replacement switches for a wheel that already has them, i dont believe you can just put these into a std vRS wheel without hacking the currently fitted steering wheel

From your reg it looks like you are getting a FL version, Is the car DSG ?

Hello mate,

Thank you, much appreciated. I am getting a fl model yes, but not DSG. I will send you some questions, but first.. to go pick up the car :-D

Evening all :D

So had my work Christmas do last night, some alcohol consumed as one might imagine ;) So then had to get up at 4:30 this morning to get the 5:50 train to Chester - not a very enjoyable journey, but made it - went to the dealers (Mitchells Skoda - Chester) first to sort everything. Got a glimpse of the car parked in the front of the building as we arrived, and instantly had a smile on my face. Sorted the paying bit - that's something that wiped the smile off my face until I got back to the car lol.

So she is a 12 plate which had 7644 miles on when I picked her up this morning. Added extra's are; rear parking sensors, Xenon lights - not sure on AFS or whatever it is, lights seem to move, so guessing it is the adaptive lights? Also got maxidot. Want to get multi function steering wheel fitted and bluetooth, and also get a spare wheel for it but that's about it for now.

Got a few pics;

Just got home after a long journey, but what an awesome car! Love everything about it, you guys weren't lying about the grin this car puts on your face!

On the trip from Chester to Kent i managed 50.9 mpg which is great, not really sure what I was expecting, but am happy.

Sure I'll be out there tomorrow morning cleaning her, so will get some proper pics up at some point :)

Welcome to the grin club, Glad you believed us- some don't but thats their loss! Yep 50mpg is about right for a journey if your being a little enthusiastic which is bonkers really. As you'll have already seen we (vRS owners) tend to bitch which is the best colour (yours) whether it should be DSG or manual and the P vs D will always be a venus and mars thing but what we probably all agree is which ever 1 we've got there's nothing else out there to touch it for the money, apart from another vRS. Even some of those who've had so called 'better' cars who switch to a vRS can't believe how good they are.

Looks v nice- no surprises the dealer had it out front!

Time to get polishing.......

Enjoy

Nice spec, same as mine. The Bluetooth took me about 3 hrs to do

Oh yes, have noticed - but that's on all forums, doesn't matter what make or model lol.

Was quite good, as I was looking over the car this morning, someone else in a 57 plate vRS picked theirs up and commented that I chose the best colour :) He said the worst thing about the car is that can be misted up on the inside in the mornings but if this is the worst thing about the car then I'm a very happy man lol.

Just going through all the paperwork, in the service schedule in the back is a workshop entry for 48J8 completed - do you know what this was to fix/change? Any other recalls on these I need to be aware of?

Top man! Lucky man!

Enjoy it!!
