Hi guys,

Pulled into a garage with a stupidly raised drain cover and heard a really loud bang!, thought the worse and drove 100 yards or so to see a small.puddle left behind and lines of oil, shut the car down and left it, hopefully it isn't stolen tomorrow :(

I think it's the sump but couldn't see, does anyone know if they are easy to fit and how long?

Also where can I get a good second hand one from?

Is the car okay being towed and where is the tow point?

car will be fine being towed DONT NOT START THE ENGINE if its leaking oil not worth the risk. as for second hand sump wudnt bother just have to bit the bullet and get a new one from tps

towing eye is behind one of the bumper grills where the fogs are located i think. hope you havent got a front mount fitted as the boost pipes can block off the tow eye

Hope it's not on the "driven" part of a major road or near a junction then... It becomes a conscience versus £££s or insurance question then. i.e. You really should tell someone that they can do something about it.

Towing eye is in the boot in the "wheel kit", it screws in near the driver's side foglight.

I've only changed the sump on a '98 1.5td Corsa which I'm assuming would be a fair bit smaller than the Fabia version.

That said it wasn't terribly difficult, few bolts, had to move the exhaust a bit, new gasket, sealer etc and put back on, just over an hour iirc

As said already, best not start or try to turn the engine over without oil there!

Which garage was it at?

Depends where your located in newcastle, i know a few places for a second hand one.
