Removing the starter motor?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Is there a guide anywhere for removing the starter motor from a 2005 Favia VRS?

Im having problems with the solenoid I think.

The engine won't even attempt to start or turn over until someone taps on the solenoid at the same time as someone turns the key in the ignition.

Starter has been excellent up until today.

Thanks for any info!

unbolt it, remove. :D Reverse this to refit. Check wiring to the starter first as this went bad on my car, not the solenoid.

If you do end up trying to remove the starter, don't make the same mistake I did.

I really don't know if the VRS starter has the same fixings as the one on our little 1.2, but if it has, here's my tip: When you find that a 17mm socket is too small, and the next one in your set happens to be 19mm, don't assume that this will be the right size...

18mm might be the one.
