amp question.

Featured Replies

Front speaker's are by far the most important

All the rears do is bugger up the soundstage/imaging and keep rear

Passengers happy

I Wouldnt waste time upgrading rears ,spend all your budget and effort

On nice component's for the front and make sure you fit them solidly.

Get a nice 4 channel amp use 2ch for the front and bridge the other 2ch for the sub.

Or you could buy 2 set's of poor speakers and 2 poor amps

And wonder why it sounds worse than it was before you upgraded.

You might be right. I should try to fit them 13cm components at the front, and get another pair of them InPhase 13cm for the back. So I have same power all round, and can use fader in my stereo to level sound out.

Sorry ive been through all this years ago...you will work out eventually that the rears only make the sound worse ..it's up to you how much effort and money you waste figuring it out.

If your just looking for noise then fit some 6*9's in the rear.

If quality/nice sound is what your after then strip the front doors and figure out how to fit the best quality component's

Preferably 6"

I got 6" in my polo doors without much hassle

Get some mdf and cut some baffle rings to attach spkrs

Fit some sound deadening material/spray

Do not ever buy speakers/amps that have 2000 watts in big

Letter's plastered all over the box

Or stuff that costs 19.99

@incarsolutions:

Either you have never heard the inphase speakers or you sell them. They are awful, end of.

Dont buy more of the inphase speakers mate.

Having bigger speakers at the back will drag the soundstage backwards and ruin the sound.

There is the option of only amping the front speakers and run the rears off the headunit.

If you do.this you can get away with only using one amp too such as the jbl 75.4

Just checked. I can't fit bigger speakers at the front without rebuilding both front doors.

So what would be the best setup? Run front speakers and sub from 1 amp and run back speakers from stereo? If I run back speakers from head unit, wouldn't sound be c**p at high volume?

Aslong as you dont make them distort it should be fine.

That route gives you better sound stage (although id have no rear speakers at all) and makes it cheaper

OK then, I will try to sum it all up, keeping in mind I don't want to remove rear speakers.

I fit new speakers all round. Get 4 channel amp and use 2 channels to feed Subwoofer and 2 for front speakers, leaving rear from head unit?

Can someone help me with wiring kit and actual wiring itslef.

Yeap, thats it.

Wiring:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/celsus-cnk4dr-wiring-kit.html

How to actually wire it is pretty easy.

1. Run the cables from front to back. Thats power, RCA and remote. The fuse should be within 8" of the battery. Do not hook up the power cable to the battery.

2.Find a good earth point as close to the amp as possible. If it has point on the point sand the paint away

3. Hook the remote cable up to the headunit loom

4. Hook up the earth to the amp and earth point.

5. Hook up the Positive to the amp

6. Hook up the power cable to the battery. It might spark but this is just the capacitors charging.

7. Hook the remote up to the amp.

8. Test the amp power's up. This tests the earth and make sure its a good enough connection.

9. If step 8 is successful turn it off and plug in the RCA's

10. Wire up the speakers

11. Turn it on to make sure it works

Thanks mate. So if I use 4 channel amp for front and sub, what output would I be looking at for channels?

you'd need to look for about 50x4 @ 4ohm. ALSO look at the rating which is only x2 (when bridging the channels to make it 2 rather than 4 channels) This rating is what will power the sub:

Example below:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/gro-gzia4115-ground-zero-iridium-gzia4115-.html

This is 70watts x 4 @ 4ohm and 250 watts x 2 @ 4ohm. Using this amp as an example you've have 70 watts per side for the front speakers and 250 watts for the sub

Sooo, got my speakers today, started taking my car apart to fit them, and while fitting broke one of the speakers. so pi**ed.

Said before I can't fit bigger speakers without changing door cards, well that's what I will do- been thinking about re-wrap my doors in faux leather, so will do that as well as put sound deadening material, and then don't have to deal with that no more.

How should I wire speakers if I want to, when I get amp, just connect it up without taking car apart again?

Just run extra cable while you've got the door apart..

That way you dont have to strip the door again....in theory..

Although in real life it wont be that easy...

Never is..

Can I run 2 speakers (120wrms @ 4ohm) and a sub (350wrms @ 4ohm) off 2 channel amp?

If the amp has tri mode capabilities yes but in general no. That will load the amp too low (1.33ohm i think) and it will.cut out etc

If you want one amp for that you need a 4 channel
