Which Thermostat ?

Featured Replies

Hi, reckon it may be time to replace the thermostat on the pick up, but which one. I seem to be coming up with two options - an 80 degree which sounds like it may come with the housing & an 87 degree unit only. Help I don't know which one to go for?

Many thanks,

Rob ;)

i got the 88 degree as it opens then so should sit halfway hope that helps

Sorted today with the 87 degree unit. Pretty straightforward & now cooking inside! ;)

I know this problem has been sorted but thought that this would help others as it is a popular topic and felicia's nearly always have i thermostat problem some time in there lives:

The 80 degree clips into thermostat housing and can be identified by the 4 electrical conections on top of the housing. This is because the car's ECU uses this point to detect the engine coolent temp in it's fuel caculations. This part is only for 1.3l engines built after February 1996.

The 87 degree unit is sandwedged by the housing and can be identified by the single electrical conector on the housing which is for the the temp gauge in dashboard (the ECU using a diffrent location on the manifold) This is for 1.3l engines built before feb 1996

I believe the 1.6l thermostat is like the 87 degree unit

I think the op wa referring to the actual thermostat rather than the temperature sensor, the 80 degree stat is the 'hot climate' version and is not normally fitted to uk spec cars, it is a direct swap though
