Doom and gloom or smiles for miles

Featured Replies

Hi all , I appreciate that a lot of people come on here if they have an issue with their car and that's great but it does sometimes give a doom and gloom feeling and if truth be told have me scampering to my car to check I haven't got that related issue ...... So I was wondering if there are people out there, like me, that break out into a smile when they see their car ( whatever trim or engine style ) ??

Right I'm off for a needless 10 mile blast to work to needlessly clean it then take a needless extended trip home. ... Smiles for miles ????????????

The question marks should have been smiley faces ( technophobe with fat fingers messed it up sorry )

I smile every time I get in mine, and when the family are in I childishly point out every single Skoda we see

Yes, I really am that sad :(

Yep. 1000 miles in in less than a month. Love it.

Wish giving it a boot didn't bring so much of a smile to my face though £££££

Yeah, I do about 150 mile a day in mine.

And I love it to bits, absolutely hate driving my girlfriends car lol

I'm on my 3rd octavia now, and only thing I'll replace my current one with is another octavia :-)

I regularly add a 35 mile detour to my 8 mile commute. Does that count?

I have to admit I am the same. People which have no interest in cars and can't tell difference between BMW and Dacia, after while with me in the car do recognize Skodas :)

Smiles for miles all the way.

I'm actually looking forward to the 3.5 hour drive to Leeds this afternoon in my Octavia (and it's not a Vrs).

Crusie Control on for the motorway, so nice and relaxed, then a manual blast down some of the twisty roads at either end.

Fun all the way.

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the food at the motorway service station...

Simple. Journeys of less than 4 hours duration do not require re-fuelling - either of vehicle or occupants! Just lay down the law!

And I'm still smiling ..... smiling at the fact that I pull up at a set of lights, and the car is so silent that occupants have asked if it has stop/start technology. It doesn't

(PS - the difference is noticeable, since I changed from a 100K mile MK3 Mondeo diesel, with a particularly noisy auxiliary belt tensioner, to add to the usual diesel sound)

That's what I wanted to see people enjoying the octavia no matter the style, trim or engine .... Not just the vRS ......

Not any more. But that's down to the price of petrol not the car.

Done about 400 miles since picking mine up yesterday morning - love it. Seriously looked like an idiot today with a massive grin on my face all the time :D And when you think that's it then something else happens or the car gives even more. Never had a car that made me smile this much - looking forward to many happy years!

Even after all the troubles I had with mine after I first got it I love mine to bits (unfortunately so does the wife). The choice of car is very important to me, it has to be practical, of decent quality, fairly economical but also reasonably good looking and fun to drive - all boxes ticked by the Octavia and which I'm struggling to find another car that fits all of these criteria so well.

I like the way it looks, the way it drives and I'm very happy with my choice of car - and after 20+ years & 100k's of driving there are not that many cars that impress me anymore.

I still love mine after 18 months of ownership. I often wonder what would tempt me to change and apart from something exotic or way out of my price range, I cannot think of anything. It's got everything I need and the few things that niggle (sound of stereo, lack of MFSW, lack of cruise control) can all be remedied when funds allow. But I had a great drive this afternoon - 30 miles of A and B roads which were great fun. I still giggle when I give it the beans when overtaking. I'm really proud that I drive it. My best car to date, without a doubt.

Doom and gloom, smiles for miles?

Bit of both really - as with any car you sometimes get some problems but on mine these have all be fixed quickly and efficiently.

I guess the real proof of how I feel about the car is that I have ordered another one, same again effectively!

Smiles! I love looking at my car, I love sitting in it and I most definitely love driving it... but like other's have said, I don't enjoy refueling it!

2013 will see me invest some money bringing it up to date and away from standard spec.

I luv mine, infact if possible I'd marry it......ok not really but yes I enjoy driving my and never worry about the reliability issues.

Every time I park the VRS up, I keep turning round to admire the little babe as I walk

off. I am always left thinking "that's one good looking estate car".

Marry her...don't be daft. She'll put on weight, whine alot, stop you going out and empty your wallet..... In other words turn into a Jag!

Loved my 11 plate Petrol Vrs estate so much that when I needed more economy I changed it for a new CR Vrs estate.

Love the fact

- People come up and want to talk about how good it looks. (Grey petrol now black)

- That it was over £6K cheaper than the VW dealer wanted for a 5 door Golf GTD that was not as well specified, is smaller and the same car!!!!

- That overtaking is so easy with so much grunt from engine

- That my 2K miles a month are so comfortable

- That my 3 children (9, 10 and 12) sit comfortably behind my wife (5' 10") and I (6' 3"). Not something they could do in a Ford Focus we owned.

- That some of my work colleagues have looked at mine, had a drive and gone and bought one.

- Our 2 dogs love it.

- How well it handles.

Whats not too like

Dealers.
