Thanks.....Arnt they full of viruses?

Some say that the music and film firms do this along with the honey traps to locate and stop downloads

TPB was blocked here ages ago but there is obviously a certain "party" that has a working URL :D I have a nice free VPN to watch my iplayer type stuff only.

The more regulation on Internet., the better.

It's too much of a free for all.

Also close down Facebook and twitter whilst they are at it!!

:finger: balls to that.

The wonderful thing about various websites including those such as Twitter or Facebook is if you don't like them you DON'T have to use them!

You guys are following the DOTCOM case?

I would strongly disagree with this however I can see it coming.. We will end up with internet connectivity like China, government blocked sites etc. Did you know in China by law the machine has come to come preimstalled government software... I wonder what they need that for...

I wonder if the anonymous group will leave a nice message on YouTube about the recent crackdown on Usenet sites... I hope they do :-)

Newsgroups have uses other than just warez.

Shame the media boys can't realise that.

I don't like some stuff on the BBC. Let's close that as well.

And ban sleeveless tshirts.

And One Direction.

Don't forget to ban competitiveness among kids either so we can have a complete nanny state!

The internet is the last bastion of freedom. Once this goes, welcome to 1984.

Can I vote for you?

People still have the freedom to STFU and go and start their own ISP.

Can I vote for you?

Me too!

Actually that's a lot harder than you think these days.... although it is tempting.

that's a lot harder than you think

I doubt it, I bet its bloody hard to do

But that's what freedom is, not entitlement.

Wow. Never knew it was so bad there. Cannot believe people don't have access to the internet or even proper phone connections with international calling.

Our Internet will end up like this.. Give it 10 years!

Well you can't just get a bank of modems and have people dial you, it's all the reseller, DSL and other such junk that you have to tie into on the backbone networks.

I never said you were entitled, although seriously if you want privacy, then you have to take a few steps.

All the people really abusing copyright laws will have been on VPN/Dark networks for years.

Thanks.....Arnt they full of viruses?

The simple answer is - it depends. Essentially a virus is just a program that does something so you can embed it in pretty much any file, but the code has to be "run" for it to do any damage. As a result, embedding the code in a data file is fairly pointless unless you're relying on a particular side-effect of using a certain player. So, the majority of the viruses will either be in executable files renamed as MP3's, RAR files, etc (expecting someone to just double click on it), dodgy URLs or an "install me to get this file..." type program.

Can't say I remember the last time I encountered one though...
