Shouldn't let the Octy get so bad!

Featured Replies

Been meaning to get my winter protection on for the past couple of months but due to work and the family, I have only just got round to it.

Was hoping to get my Wolf's body wrap on it but because I have left it so late I didn't think it would play well in the cool and moist air. So went with my old trusty AG SRP new formula and 2 coats of DJ SNH. Here she is looking rather sorry for herself.

Not too bad, but very little protection left from back in september. On with the engine bay.

Megs APC agitated with a detailing brish and plastics treated with AG Rubber and vinyl.

Wheels were cleaned with Bilberry and then polished with AG SRP. They were taken off and given a good going over a while ago so were pretty tidy. The bodywork was then washed and clayed using valetpro mild clay and a strong mix of Wolf's white satin as lube. Then on with the AG SRP, all door shuts and boot shut treated too.

Finally 2 coats of DJ SNH were applied to keep the nasty salt from the body work. Leaving me with a nice tidy car for a day or 2.

Didn't take my autosol and wire wool with me so will do the exhaust at some point this week at work. All in all though, tidy result for me.

Thanks for looking guys,

Neil

Nice job.

one question though...what is meant by `door shuts`? I've heard it mentioned before don't really know what you're referring to.

Nice car, looking good. Just a shame that it'll be back to square one after a single journey. At least you'll know it's properly protected under the dirt.

Exactly, should keep the rust and oxidization away!

The door shuts are the inside of the door jams where the hinges are etc. You get in there with a detailing brush and an "All Purpose Cleaner.

I spent £3 today and mine looks like that, externally. Not for long though, being a yellow 'un !

It does, thank you. I'm all wised up now!

Nice work Neil, you live on an airfield or track or something?

Each to their own Paul! £3 compared to half a day on the motor, I prefer the hlaf a day of course!

I work on an airfield Baker21,although no aircraft fly from this one (I'm in the RAF). Was a "Busy" day at work on a sunday. How did the gTechniq bear up on the Superb? How durable etc?

Glad to have cleared that up for you mandp.

G-Techniq lasted a while to be fair but I got to the stage where the beading and sheeting properties meant I struggled to tell if the protection was still there.

As a result I srtipped everything and am back to using FK1000P which I enjoy applying now and again.........:)

I was toying with G-Techniq but the amount of applications for the price didn't work out cost effective for me. So I thought I'd stick with the wax. FK1000p is excellent value, but I found that Supernatural hybrid lasts a little longer, which surprised me.

I've had Wolf's chemical Body Wrap on my Volvo team bus now for 2 months and about 4000 miles and so far so good. Lasting pretty well, haven't applied the QD yet either, impressive.

Yeah Rob is completing a long term test with Wolf's Body Wrap on the van and it's also looking impressive...........;)

I completely agree about FK1000P but wasn't a big fan of the application of Supernatural hybrid, I found it pretty 'grabby' to apply........:(

I can totally see where you're coming from. I think the wax does seem to "overload" onto the applicator quite easily, which is a problem on silver as you can't see it going on as well unlike black and reds, so I tend to apply too much to the applicator as a "just in case" which makes it a little grabby, instead of sliding on nicely like 1000p and CG 50/50 etc

CG 50/50, now there is a wax like P21S and BOS that go on and off easily, just a shame neither are that durable..... :(

With you on that one. It's an absolute dream to use. Can't wait til the spring to crack it open.

  • 3 weeks later...

Nice job  Not RAF Honnington is it? Just a thought as it's a former Tornado base now used by RAF Regiment and Army..

That is the one mate yeah! Are you in the Mob?

Well, MDP for my sins and a bit of an aircraft spotter anorach... Plus it's near Lakenheath. A regular spotting venue for me and my lad. And I'm aware of the CBRN specialist from a NGF unit I was part of.

Ah right, cool! I'm an armourer in the RAF. Wish it still was a tornado base. Working with the regiment and army isn't for me. I love my ejection seat and armament work. Loaded a bomb onto an F16 at lakenheath as a visit we did to the yanks. They are massive. Crazy aircraft!

Nice!! Was it a visiting F16, or did you mean the F15?? (the 15 has the twin tail plane) My brother in law is US Navy and works on the F18 Super Hornet. I thinks it's computers he does. He's trying for officer training so he can be a Rear Electronics Opperator in the F18.

  • Author

No. You're right! It was a 15 with the twin fin's. Funny story though. I got same blasted by a F16 when I was out of area last whilst taxi-ing. Had to run and hide behind my pick up. When it had gone my lads were about 20 metres away in the weapon storage shed, rolling about on the floor laughing at me. Wouldn't mind, only had my bloody t-shirt and trousers on. I was raw!

It happens!! My Mrs got blasted by gravell from the hard standing at Biggin Hill when a Chinook took off 100 yards from us. She ended up with a serious cold sore!!
